Why do these two terms get confused? I'm just working through this train of thought after I read a question on here. My apologies if the argument seems scattered, but I would welcome discussion and opinions on this matter.
Slutty would be more of an internal desire to attract attention by the way a female acts, dresses, talks, etc. She may be just trying to tease through these various factors or attempting to procure a sexual experience as a result.
Sexy would be the way a woman carries herself that isn't so much a lascivious desire on her part for sexual fulfilment but portraying a confidence in the manner that she dresses or looks.
I could dress up to go out with my female friends and manage to make myself feel sexy, which doesn't mean I'll feel slutty. Also, I could just feel sexy based on the underwear I may or may not be wearing, which wouldn't be privvy to anyone else. I could shave my legs, wax my bikini line, etc to feel sexy for no one else than myself. So is being sexy more of an internal thing, whilst slutty is being projected outwads for attention?
Could I be dressed or behaving in a sexy and slutty fashion? Is it possible to have both? For some reason I have always seemed to consdier them as separate adjectives, almost degrees of sexual appeal. I could be sexy, very sexy and if I was actually after sex, then I could turn up the notch to slutty.
Clothes could also be labelled as such (for it is really just a label, isn't it?), with a mini skirt being sexy, and a micro skirt being slutty, especially if the lower curve of my ass cheeks are revealed. A low cut top that is only being held in place by two-sided tape - that's debatable, as you'll see celebrities wearing such garments on the red carpet, but you will never hear or read fashion commentators as saying that it's slutty. They might say provocative, call it a fashion faux pas, label it as revealing, but never say it's slutty. So, do the terms also depend on who is pulling off the sexy or slutty look? If so, objectiveness is out the window, and those words may or may not be thrown about not with the definition by which they were originally intended, but by how we want to create the most effect.
