Whether you are open minded, fun, or young doesn't matter, and neither does how long you've been married. Being happy isn't a factor either. Even couples who can't stand one another can be prone to jealousy, and couples who are deeply in love can be aloof about these things - and vice versa.

You should have a threesome if and when you are both enthusiastic about having sex with the same person, and then only if you can communicate your boundaries clearly and trust one another to respect those boundaries. If you can't check those three boxes, it's probably a bad idea.

Once you've decided a good idea, the rules should be set by whoever is most jealous, or by whichever of you will be witnessing their spouse in an opposite-sex encounter with your guest. This means if you have another girl in your bed, your wife calls the shots unless she is *really* far up the Kinsey Scale and you genuinely fear her running off with another woman. Others will disagree with this. Seek out different views on the subject, read about people's good and bad experiences, and most importantly discuss them with your wife and be see how she feels about it.

I have always felt that group sex is an huge emotional minefield. No one knows how they're going to react to seeing someone they love interact sexually with another until it happens and by then it's too late if the reaction is negative which it often is, esp for women in my experience. A third comes with a lot of questions. Boy or girl, how much is too much. What if they make her cum 10x more than you ever have? What if she's prettier, this will eat at your girl? Are you thinking about her while you are having sex?
What about the third being a guy? Are you also okay sharing her? Is it a 1 time deal or ongoing? STIs? Pregnancy? Are alcohol/drugs involved and if so how can you guarantee consent? Do you keep talking to the third? How much? Can you ever meet the third later for coffee?
