Should a person be held responsible for a mistake they made when they were 15 years old for the rest of their life?

When I was 15 years old, my stepbrother used to flatter me, then he forced me to kiss him and I responded for a moment, then I stroked his hair and then I told him that this was wrong. The next day, I told my sister and she married that guy, but she excluded me from her life. What would you do if you were in such a situation?

Now i am 22 and my sister still dont talk with me

  • You are not a bad person! Even if it were a more serious mistake which it wasn’t, there comes a point when people need to let things go. If you have done all you can do to be sorry and you have asked for forgiveness, then you have done all you can do. Nothing more is required of you. The problem is clearly with the other person at this point. They can either let the toxicity go and move on with their own life by forgiving you, or they can continue to be bitter and miserable for the rest of their life. But you should forgive yourself and move on. Something that happened that long ago is not worth wasting one more moment of your life over. Move on from it and learn. Be fair to yourself

  • Depends. 15 is old enough to know right from wrong. Someone at 15 can rape and murder, they should be held account for that.
In you case though you didn't do anything wrong, at least how you describe it. He made the move on you and you stopped it. You're sister is in denial of who she is now married to.

  • Was he her boyfriend when he kissed you? Have you tried everything you could to get her to forgive you?

  • No she should get past it. We all do stupid things and some we do the best we can with.

  • You did nothing wrong! Your sister needs to grow up.

    • Why do you think like that? Like if your brother do that to your Side would you think the same?

  • Should they be? No.

But you can't control what that person does.

You have to move on, and maybe your sister will change but equally likely she won't.

  • Not at all, we are basically retards when we are 15

  • You should not be held responsible for the mistakes made in the past.

Now its your sister's problem. In everything thing that's gone on since you said no to that guy.

You've tried everything to get your sister to talk to you right? Then if she won't,

    THEN MOVE ON.

  • Don't beat yourself up about it. Besides, it's not like you had sex or anything.

  • she is a bad sister... that is not a big real to let her leave u all this time try to ask her why ur like that why u mad at me,

  • so your sister married your step brother who's also her step brother. wtf? that's not even legal

  • Depends on the mistake. Some mistakes like killing someone can't really be forgotten. Forgiven maybe, but not excused.
