Should an SO be allowed to cheat if he or she isn't feeling satisfied in their relationship?

I just finished a movie about a horny depressed married woman who was ignored by her absentee cheating husband. It all started after she miscarried. Afterward, the husband just wasn't there for her: he left her to drown in her own misery, didn't compliment her looks, he even ignored her efforts in their workplace and outside of it. Plus forgot their anniversary, etc.

Then comes a charming man who basically tempted her and she cheats on her husband after resisting for quite a while

Note: The wife was very faithful prior to her husband's mistreatments

So my question: Was she validated? Is anyone validated for ANY reason?

Also, note, I understand a person could just divorce their partner or leave but I am curious what others believe

  • No. At that point, it's best to just get a divorce and be friends.
