The fantasy could be very different irl. I think it's hot as well in theory, but I think it would be very different in person actually doing it, when you get different personalities and people's feelings involved, it could potentially be a very "messy" situation.

Fantasy and reality are not the same thing. As someone who has been exploring my fantasies and making them real for a few years now, I will say that what you might in enjoy in theory, might not be for you in practice. I say go for it. Just find partners that are sane, sensible, and don't put yourself in a situation where it could blow up in your face. Like a boyfriend and his friend.
