Should porn be banned?

im not sure on this subject. as long as we can keep it out of the reach of people under the age of 18 then no does this mean it means to have to pay for porn after you click on the link for pornhub rather then show you porn right off the bat then fine. i don't think there should be an outright ban. but if it would be illegal for me to show nine requirements and it be illegal for them to be able to watch it on their phone anytime they want. really wants the difference?

  • No it shouldn't, simply because that is freedom of choice.

    Parents can and should take more proactive approach to their kids. There is ways to ban specific URLS and/or specific IP addresses.

    Mine does it right on the router, I can go in and say this device, which I've assigned this local IP address to, cannot go to this URL. You can even setup time frames, like the internet cuts off on it after 9pm for example.


    The government should not be taking over being parents... as far as I am concerned, a simple click saying are you an adult, click yes or no is fine, don't make it harder for adults.

    If you really want to punish people, then make it a crime for someone to lie and say they are an adult when they are not. Big disclaimer saying if you are under 18 it is this type of crime and you may face this type of penalty.

    That will make all the feel good people who think we need to do something happy, even if there is no way to actually enforce that.

    It just goes back to the adults in the household, they have all the power and they can stop their kids from accessing it if they wanted to.

    • i agree mostly with what you said. the flaws are in the economy we don't exactly have the luxury of parents staying home and raising there children i agree we don't want the government raising our children but with this "two income trap" system we've build. one thing i agree with Elizabeth Warren i agree with (and i'm not a fan of Elizabeth Warren but i agree with her on this one) but has a man who wants to be the soul provider i don't see how that's possible in the united states. so can we at least have a system where porn isn't banned but we make it so that you have to pay for it otherwise the access is made unavailable?

    • It still wouldn't stop kids, they could go buy a visa gift card and sign up as an adult. Some kids would even take a parents regular card and go buy it. It really isn't that hard though to setup porn blockers, I could do it in a few hours if I wanted. Once I have main things setup, then it is easy enough to copy settings to other devices. Even if porn was 100% outlawed, there is still websites kids could go to, to do live video chats with a naked person and mutual masturbation. Many are free, because no one is getting paid anything.

  • I'm actually going to go anon here, while I agree with the concept that people should be able to choose what they watch and as long as the actors have consented to the porn it should be okay. However, some porn out there has become so violent and depraved and it bothers me because I think we could all suffer the consequences of that. I expect love making to be normal and I don't want some partner throwing me down and getting violent because they've been conditioned by the porn world to think this is normal. I blocked replies so only you could reply because I get into tireless arguments with users about how I could pick better men and all that nonsense, which is not the point, I'm speaking in general terms not necessarily "me" although it could be me.

    So I guess to answer the questions, yes I thinik it should be banned.

  • Ehhhh I think it more so has to do with self control and I feel like many people just lack basic self control and make things into a problem. Porn has been around forever in different forms and it has became an issue because people don’t know when to get off their phones and do more productive things.   • America tried banning liquor many years ago. All it did was make it more profitable for criminals increasing crime. People still found liquor and many people were imprisoned due to alcohol law. America finally had to realize the ban was worse than the alcohol and laws against its existence and use were removed. Same would happen with porn.
