  • Europe mostly has legalized it for many years.

It's curious that, in the US, involving a camera and money is legal between consenting adults, but it's not possible for one to pay the other without a camera. It's likely a view held because the puritanical middle-class prefers those deemed "undesirable" or in unfortunate circumstances should suffer more: restrictions on abortions, homelessness, former prisoners who've done their time and paid their debts, laborious voter ID requirements, and taboo of exchanging fundamental scarce resources such as sex, looks, power, and/or money. Meanwhile, billionaires get away with having sex with 12-year-olds for decades. It's moral panicking and moralizing behavioral control of others below them, denying their fundamental biological needs.

The arguments about sex trafficking are specious because pimps are eliminated through prostitution marketplace platforms where people market themselves directly online.

Also, prohibition just drives it underground, and makes criminals and the police-prison-industrial-complex rich.

  • I don't understand what the issue is. Would probably be safer for both parties involved. And bring in more tax revenue, for a job that is going to continue to exist whether you like it or not. I think the reason it is not legal now is mostly a moral thing, we are a Christian nation in the USA.

Could have some downfalls, but none that aren't already there now I think. And a lot more upside. I think women might not like it so much because a lot of men would rather just go pay a prostitute, than to take them out on a bunch of dates, for the possibility of sex.

Could cut down on the men out there looking for just sex though, would be the only reason to go on actual dates anymore, to find a relationship, not just someone to fuck.

That being said, could also make It way easier for men to cheat. With someone who for sure won't go telling on him. But also more of a possibility for a paper trail if things are legal.

So a lot of upside for men, but no so much for women. I mean they could all do the same, but women can already go out and get free dick, with little hassle, so not sure why they would want to pay for it. But it would still happen.

  • I dont trust it even it gets legalized. So i dont care whether it becmes legal or not because results are same. The sex industry is corrupt whether it is legal or not. In germany it is legal but it is still very corrupt but the government make profit by it. So the government become the "pimp" when it gets legal. But I am ok with it if they can regulate in positive way, otherwise it is just useless to me. Whatever, i just dont trust the government.
Sex work is also self harm to me, otherwise majority of sex workers won't have drug problems or mental issues and it is irreversibel. It just harms women but it get promoted as "women empowerment". I will never understand why people can't drink at 18 but can make unhealthy and unrational decisions by becoming a sex worker. Sex traficking is also connected to porn. You can search it, i won't explain further because i have done it many times. Just search my other posts.
It is also common that directors seek mentally unstable women or very young girls and wait till they become 18. Mentally ill /young women literally get exploited.

    • So you just legalize corruption. Why would also any woman be a prostitute if she can have onlyfans account or twitch lool. I dont think any smart woman decide to be a prostitute/pornstar with her free will without getting forced or be mental ill

  • Yes. Sex work needs to be legalized, because it happens anyway, and if done correctly, we can minimize harm. The way the sex work industry currently works, pimps keep most of the money earned by prostitutes, and they keep them there with threats of violence (and by extension, the following up on those threats). There is also a huge problem of children being forced into sex work. If sex work is legalized, it can be regulated. There can be checkpoints in place to make sure that a business isn’t hiring child prostitutes, that their employees aren’t being mistreated, and that employees and customers are getting regularly tested for STDs. If they don’t meet the standards a business can be shut down. But if they aren’t allowed to legally operate anyway, there is very little incentive to operate in a way isn’t extremely harmful.

    • You didn’t women being sold into sex slavery like through sex trafficking. How would that be prevented?

    • *didn’t mention

    • Once again, there can be checkpoints to ensure that everyone who is there is there willingly. If sex work is legalized, than businesses would need to have a license for it. And in order to keep that license, they would need to pass regular inspections, which would check for all sorts of things. Also, if sex work was legalized, I’m sure that there are some people who would be more willing to see it as a valid career path. Because they wouldn’t risk getting arrested by making money in that way, and because it would be much safer if it was regulated. They wouldn’t be risking getting beaten up by pimps who wanted their money, or getting raped and assaulted by men when they said no to something, or getting STDs from the customers. It would be so much safer for everyone involved. And the money would still be there.

  • i never stood on a street corner looking for men but i have engaged in prostitution mostly guys online making me offers that i couldn't refuse... it's great there's a platform where i can tell my truths to and feel embraced by people who understand... that i'm a whore or was one... maybe always be... sometimes i feel sad about it... sometimes i feel it's just an opportunity... but at the end of the day i'm a girl who didn't find someone to love her.

    • Big respect for actually owning it. Most online "prostitutes" firmly deny being one and claim all kinds of reasons behind their choices. You actually admit it and not even in an entitled way

    • @ZackBan i definitely felt guilt about it and even cried hysterically after my 1st one but i also want to admit to it... it does mess you up in a way... you have desires and cravings... most girls don't have to face this shit... it's easier to be mediocre not that i'm great looking i look like a hard bitch.

    • If it's you in the picture I got news for you: you're smoking hot. And I guess I couldn't understand how exactly it messes you up since I wasn't there, but I've been with a few women before and I've come across many instances where calling what they had a craving would be putting it mildly. So you're not alone there don't worry about that

  • The thing I see wrong with it is the same opinion I have about technology and porn.

It is a cripple to society's ability to socialize and be able to grow into adults.

We have enough people with problems and I think we need a lot of changes starting with helping people in a rut situation to getting real phycological help.

This includes men who go to prostitutes instead of socializing and working on themselves. Having money, a job, a car, a home does not mean your mentally mature.

People already seem to be losing the ability to agree to disagree and communicate with each other without technology.

    It's pretty sad honestly.

I hope people wake up to this and asks themselves why they continue to devalue life.

    • Agreed

    • Prostitution isn't that bad. But I wonder if women having kids at 35-40 has anything to do with the rise of retardation. Point is there are worse things you should worry about

  • It shouldn't be legal at all. But people support strip clubs so ig its surprising that one is legal and not the other. Both are secretly dickbouncing for tips at the end of the day

  • Yes. Legalized, destigmatized and regulated to protect the prostitutes.

    • You know why 🤣

    • @kelly6 do you think prostitutes and customers should all carry current health cards? Something like a vaccine card?

    • Only prostitutes should carry health card and keep checking

  • I am not fond of prostitution because they do it with someone elses boyfriend or husband. Not cool!

    • The boyfriend or hubby will find someone willing, prostitute or otherwise. The prostitutes don’t “corrupt” the men, these men go out looking to cheat. Prostitution isn’t the problem lol

    • @AlannaBabe Exactly

  • isn't that what porn technically is? lol

  • It’s one of those ostrich with it’s head in the sand situations.

it is never ever ever going to go away.

as the Earth dies and the populations drops to 10’s of people, a few will be prostitutes.

it’s one of the oldest professions and will be one of the last.

legalise it, make it a safe place for those in the Industry and those using it.

  • They already legalized pot/weed, so why the hell not. Just legalize everything, at this point.

  • Only if we make it impossible for women to be whores for years and then change their mind and claim they were raped 5 years ago because now they feel differently about what they willingly did in the past. Otherwise there will be a greater epidemic of men locked up on false rape charges.

    • That’s what licenses are for.

    • @snowboarder720 How does that protect the customer 5+ years later exactly... when the woman goes to court and is NOT a hooker anymore. Typically people believe her. Just look at all of the actresses who got with Weinstein in hotel rooms at 3AM for jobs but now say they got raped.

    • When they are a current license holder the city knows they are or were a legal prostitute during the time.

  • Wtf. NO.

    • Why tho?

    • Because degeneracy creates an environment for an all around shitty society with no morals.

    • Then why is abortion and gay marriage legal?

    • Show All
  • Yes. With testing of the workers for STD's, and with precautions to reasonably protect against trafficking.

  • Why not. It is a women's choice what to do for an occupation and her body. It is legal in the Netherlands and they have no problems with it.

  • Obviously yes. Just about everybody really wants/needs sex so making it illegal to access for the socially unfortunate is pretty cruel in my opinion.

More importantly making it illegal removes the responsibility to provide legal protections to the sex workers which puts them at risk.

  • It's already legal, it's called onlyfans.

Girls of all ages can now sell their bodies for money. Only because instead of clients penetrating them they watch them get penetrated by toys all of a sudden its perfectly fine.

Don't take this as an attack of that industry if anything I want prostitution to be legalized. For one it stops the hypocrisy that makes sleeping with someone you met the same day perfectly fine until they pay you for it. And second with laws you can regulate and end the abuse of pimps and prostitution rings. If you need a license to practice people can be vetted for being ethical beforehand

  • I just wanted the OnlyFans information.
But I mean, if you’re allowed to have sex with anyone you want, why not profit off of it. The government fucks us all the time and they’re making hella monies.

  • You bet it should! ABSOLUTEY.

  • As a sexworker my answer to this is obviously yes but even if I wasn't my answer would be the same 😁

  • No, I don’t think so. This topic is deceptively complex, so I’d have to do more research into the possible consequences. I think a lot of people decide too quickly on things without thinking about the consequences of their decisions.

  • I would say yes. It's one of those things where all the worst parts of it are a result of it being illegal.
