Should there be a limit to gender identities?

If so what should that limit be?

  • I'm fine with people expressing themselves to the nth degree and try to respect it (if I "misgender" a person, it will be by accident 99% and not on purpose unless they seriously piss me off).

I'm not fine with people blurring boundaries too much based on biology like women's sports. That was established based on biological differences which I'm thoroughly convinced a couple of years of HRT cannot erase.

For people saying those who aren't athletic deserve no opinion, I was a top athlete and a sponsored one growing up. I never turned it into a profession but it was a serious deal in my teens. I'm not talking out of my ass about athletic motions, physiology, mechanics, proportions, etc.

    • I am with Joe Rogan on this if I try to summarize. I have no disrespect for people who want to identify however they want. We can become the best of friends and I will not try to call them mentally ill or anything like that. But your body is different if they force me to say, and they force me to say that if they participate in sports and start taking gold medals left and right.

  • I'm not sure to understand that question, but set aside the two natural genders, male and female, I guess you mean people born with the physical signs of one gender, but identifying themselves with another. By the way I guess we're not talking plain homosexuality.

A guy can feel unconfortable as male, and feeling himself a girl, and the same for a girl indentifying herself with the male gender, and there are medical interventions available to become transgender. People having undergo that change will as far as I know be sterile. I know for sure that's a very difficult situation for transgender people.

Some other people feel themselves asexual, whatever that means, but neither of these cases make me feel competent to emit any judgment, and I still do not understand what you mean with a limit to gender indentities.

Most Helpful Girls

  • It really isn’t my concern how someone else identifies themselves. . I identify as a female named Katherine. I will say that it is hard to refer to anyone as “They” or “Them”.

  • Like sexes, there should be only two. Any other identity is of concern only to that particular person. To other people, it is irrelevant.

  • The limit should be people who give a fuck about you. I don't want anybody who I don't give a fuck about even thinking about me, they need to mind their own goddamn business

  • Gender is literally a made-up social construct. How do you put a "limit" on something that has no inherent definition?

    • Which society constructed it and why do all societies followv it to some extent

    • @SmokyOne It's ebbed and flowed throughout human history. Again, no inherent definition, but rather a fluid concept that evolves with social interactions and all the influencing factors that go into that, such as religions.

    • @smokyone religions being another completely made up figment of humans' imaginations.

  • Two.

  • Nope, people are allowed to express themselves.

Also a lot of this is emerging information, as people (in some countries) have more freedom with their sexuality, gender and also importantly safety, then more research is carried out.

if you look across the various spectrums, you can see how people are happy to identify themselves.

Less need to label would be good and just general acceptance from all sides, just live with it, and neither side get all fanatical over it all.

  • Yes, two-male and female.
    The rest are mental illnesses.
Not talking about hermaphrodites, but in general they also have a main gender.

    • It’s also a genetic abnormality and are born that way.

  • No. Imagine gatekeeping gender, someone's personal expression 💀

    • Some of us refuse to play along with the delusions of mentally ill people.

    • @Agagagagaga good thing they're not likely to want to stick around you then hm?

    • 1 in 20 people in America suffer with a mental illness. Do you think it’s okay to make fun of people with anxiety disorders, depression, suicidal thoughts, and schizophrenia? Because I don’t. Wtf is wrong with you?

  • There is. Two.

  • Boy=boy
    Girl=girl
    Everyone other=I don’t need 2know

  • It's not our fucking business how someone identifies. Many cultures past and present had more than just the two identities.

  • Like what? The only thing I need to know about someone else is how they want to be addressed or spoken of. I have no interest in their sex life. Straight, gay, bi, asexual, whatever, I don't care. They can wear whatever they like and pee wherever they feel comfortable.

  • 2.

    ... and fireworks start

  • girl, boy & non bin are enough. don't make anything else happen please...

  • XX, XY and Oops.

  • Nope. Gender concepts are overrated.

  • The same as Mother Nature: female and male. I’m sick and frankly disgusted by how twisted liberals have made this.

  • Yes, it should be limited to describing biological sex and nothing else.

  • Well if one is allowed there shouldn't be a restriction for another. But the whole concept is bloated now

  • Two!!!

  • As far as I know there are only 2 genders.
