Call it technosexual, robosexual, Mechanophilia or just sex with machines. It's becoming more and more of a reality.
Since the beginning of time we have used devices to pleasure ourselves one of the oldest archeological finds was a sex toy:
So with machines that respond, move and simulate conversation is it any wonder why the idea of an robotic or AI girlfriend/boyfriend has gained popularity, And the industry is quickly catching up to demands. I'm going to try and keep this PG or at least PG-13 but lets explore this fascinating technology.
First question is why would anyone prefer a machine over a person? Have you ever wished you could find your perfect (man/woman)? Someone who seems to have it all, looks personality, non-judgmental, and matches you to the T? Well that's the draw. Building exactly what it is you want. Be is some leather clad, dominant partner to a submissive, play toy to a gamer friend. Just envision it, and build it.
Second question is it cheating? All relationships have different dynamics. This is between you and your partner, is it a toy? Are toys okay? In my relationship, toys, and machines are just fine. We have a giant toy collection and we have discussed this and she even once told me "if you want a sex doll, feel free...." But open and honest communication is always key to any relationship. I always say if you feel the need to hide it it's probably cheating. Partners don't need details, but at least a conversation of "hay how do you feel about...." is probably good.
Third question what can one do with a robot? Well as of this writing there are a number of websites that have virtual boyfriends/girlfriends. Chatbots that are similar to Chat-GPT that has the NSFW filters removed that can talk sex and get downright nasty with you. There are robots that talk and move and to some extent emote (show emotion). They have all of their "bits" and stuff still and can just get nasty. And lastly there are websites that control bluetooth toys that may be connected to one or more of the above. No I'm not going to link them, just use a search engine.
Forth question can a machine give consent, or does it even need to?
This is a subject of some debate. The word robot is derived from the Czech noun “robota” (роботa), meaning “labour” or slave. As the machines are subject to programming and any meaningful consent is based on programming response it's rather a sticky subject. Does your AI girlfriend/boyfriend really want to spend hours chatting about how your day went? Can it even really want anything? Does Chat-GPT really want to solve your homework assignment? What is desire, and consent when we talk about created artifacts? It's an interesting question isn't it? And it really doesn't have a good answer.
Fifth question is there any benefits, really?
Well there are a large number of people on this planet who are lonely, and just want a companion. Is this a solution to the crazy cat lady or the incel guy? Machines don't judge, it doesn't matter how you look, act or even if you can talk. People who have handicaps, or are maybe socially awkward, or even extremely unattractive can still find someone who loves and understands them. Or at least give the illusion of love and understanding.
And lastly what about kinks
as no one other than the person is really involved one can safely explore many kinks and perversions without harming anyone else, the jury is still out if violent p*rn encourages or satisfies violence in sex. But if it does reduce rape, and other violent acts it's certainly worth exploring.
Regardless of how you feel about the subject. Sex robots are here, they're becoming smarter and they are becoming more lifelike. Let's discuss this some more. I'm looking forward to your comments.
