Welcome, gents.👕👖👟

The Art Of Manscaping.✂️💈

Let's start by saying that this myTake is NOT for anyone who lies within the following:

- Prefers being completely hairless

- Prefers hairless men

- Thinks that body hair is disgusting.

I completely respect anyone with any of those preferences. I really do, so my intention is not to patronise anyone. This was made for men however, who want to manage body hair they've decided they will keep.

What is Manscaping?

According to the fabulous Urban Dictionary [ :P ], to manscape is to:

Remov[e] excess body hair via waxing, shaving, plucking.

Interesting. Now it doesn't say all body hair. It says excess. Other definitions say unwanted. Let's hold that thought.

Why Talk About It?

There has been an increase in women who prefer hairless men BUT, there are still many many women who like at least some hair on a man, and I honestly think it's a shame that many men don't realise how attractive it is to some of us lol.

Yet for many men, body hair is a blessing and a curse in that you can have too much. I get it. Some men also have a reasonable amount of hair, but don't know where it looks best.

HAHA ^ Never fear, the #ManGuruBananna is here ✌🏽😎🍌 . . . . [kidding, I don't know squat about men.]

How to manscape?

Okay let's go from head to toe. [remember this is ONE view by ONE person. Don't take this universally lol]

I've designed this so that you don't have to read the whole thing, but scroll to the part/s you need and have a quick read.

[Poet and I know it.]

Hair and face:

Hair: This isn't body hair obvs, but imma include it anyway. Listen up fellas, the shape of your face should help you determine what style looks best on you. One example: If you have a rounder face but want to elongate it, go for a hairstyle that is a bit longer and directs upwards, such as a combover or pompadour. One other thing. The fade is very much in these days. Looks good. Give it a go =]

Face: Crazy how much you can do here. I could do an entire take based on facial hair, but for time's sake, try all types at some point in your life. Clean shaven, stubble, light beard, fuller beard, moustache, goatee, etc. See what looks best on you. If there is hair there, the recommendation is always to have it trimmed, and for the cut to be CLEAN AF.

Chest, Back & Abs:

Okay, some women like ALL of these areas absolutely hairless, and i get it. That looks good, but personally, I find it sexier when there's hair here and there.

Chest: Them pecs are one of my favourite man parts. I think they look best hairless or trimmed. If his chest is really developed, i think it's a turn on to have some hair there. Makes him look like a powerful human gorilla type thing :D mm mmmm ( . ) _|_ ( . )

Back: Okay, apparently this is a massive problem for some guys. I'd say the same thing as with the chest. Hairless or trimmed. Best to go hairless though as back hair can make you look older. Even with a strong back, a lot of hair doesn't look the best.

The Art Of Manscaping ✂️💈

Abs: Again, Hairless or trimmed is best. When you trim the abs, you want to make sure it's even. I'll be talking about tips and tricks later.

Arms & Underarms:

Arms: This is one I have an issue with lol. I really dislike hairless arms on men. I'm sure it isn't just me. Keep your arms as they are for the love of pete, or if the hair is excess, a trim should do the trick. I've realised that a nice look is when there's more hair on the forearm than upper arm and shoulders.

The Art Of Manscaping ✂️💈

Underarms: Same with the arms, I find hairless underarms on a guy a little weird, but hey do your thing if that's you. If you do want to keep hair there, then keep it as is, or trim it too. It will still be there, but controlled, which is nice.

Pubic Hair & Legs:

Pubic Hair: Ah yes, one of the most common occurrences of questions on GaG. 'How do you like it?', 'What style should I do?', 'Do you like shaved balls?' . . . lol... I mean I wonder if those guys put that much effort into their actual hair or facial hair. Anyway, this is a bit tricky because part of it obviously will depend on you wanting to impress the girl you are with/going to end up with. She is going to have a say haha :P If you're single, then do what is comfortable for YOU. If you feel cleaner shaved all over, then go for it. If you like it all natural, leave it! If you want it trimmed, then go for that too. Since this is something that people aren't seeing AS COMMONLY, what you do and when is easier to decide.

[I am NOT showing images of this sorry!] :P 😂

Legs: Same with the arms, I find shaven legs on a man so strange, especially when they're shiny and that, wtf lol. Again, all personal opinions and I'm sure some girls love that. As for me, if you want to keep the hair, leave it the hell alone or trim it. No it will not 'cover your muscles' lol, you can still show them off and have hair! And since I said I'd go from head to toe... I don't know if anyone cares about toe hair, or even feet for that matter. Just don't look like Shrek and you'll be fine.

Okay, now for the real advice:

TIPS & TRICKS:

Manscaping is going to take maintenance. This shouldn't be a surprise. Just like women constantly maintain their look, men who wish to manscape will have to do the same. Sometimes, it can present some problems, such as irritation, uneven cuts, and what to do when you're beyond hairy. Well, I have a few tips that can help.

- Unless confident, do not cut your hair or trim your beard by yourself. Allow professional assistance. 💈

- To minimise prickliness, adopt a skincare routine for the whole body that exfoliates the skin, softening the hairs within a few weeks. 👌🏽

- For excessively hairy men: Don't manscape with excessive hair. The very first time you manscape, shave or wax it ALL off, then work from there as your hair begins to grow back. Note which areas you want to keep hairless, and keep working on those you want to keep growing, or keep trimmed. 🔎

- For those with sensitive skin: Don't overwork. If you find yourself with razor bumps or irritated skin, abandon monospacing until your skin can heal, and until you find a better hair removal procedure to suit you. It isn't worth it. ✋🏽🕓

- To get an even trim: Use smaller scissors and hold them at an angle rather than straight on top of the hair. This decreases the chances of prickly hairs and ensures a cut that isn't patchy. ✂️

- To thin hair over time: Use a lemon and honey mix on your skin over a few weeks 🍋🍯. Give it a month and see how you go, but consistency is key. Both products are known to have numerous benefits for the skin. Tweezing also works, but that is PAINFUL AF. You'd have to numb the area first. I don't care how tough you think you are. Tweezing might make you cry, or even pee a little. 😂

- For more awesome natural remedies, here's a link because let's face it, we don't wanna spend a gazillion bucks on a 'specialist' product, when we might as well just grab it with our groceries. 🍅🍐🍋🍳

- Here are some Do's and Don'ts to summarise a few things I've said. =] 👍🏽👎🏽

- DO NOT ever use body cream. Ever. That shit is disgusting, dangerous, and leaves you with the worst results. Sure, it's quick, but that's literally its only benefit. 🙅🏽❌🚫

The MAN Kit:

And finally, a small list of items you might like to consider as essentials for male grooming.

- A manual razor

- Any kind of electrical machine for the body and/or face. [philips, braun, etc.]

- Aftershave

- A waxing kit. [Best with the tub]

- Trimming scissors. The delicate design, not chunky, to allow for more control.

- Tweezers. Good luck.

- Cologne. gotta smell good.

- An exfoliating body lotion for when you shower. Not just for hygiene, but to extract impurities. Things like blackheads and pimples can be calmed by doing this.

- A smile :)

Hope this helps some of you. Please let us know what you do or use as well!

  • Damn, girl. How do you know all this?

    • Lol, observational research.🤓

    • Haha

  • I keep my face shaved clean usually. But I usually keep my chest hair pretty good it doesn't even need trimming a lot because its so fine. As far as my down south area goes
I prefer to keep it like it is. Nice take though

    • that's good. =] thanks!

  • You should start waxing me

    • Haha i give advice, not appointments! 😂

    • Well thanks for the advice

  • nice take.

    • Thanks :)

    • my pleasure :)

  • Does honey and lemon help in permanent reduction of coarse male body hair?
I am one very hairy man and I feel extremely insecure next to a woman ad feel worthless

    • Eventually yes, if used consistently. The hair will grow back less dense, but the routine has to become a habit. Dont say that. It's perfectly fine and there are always solutions.

    • So what's the technique? first shave off my while body and then start applying honey and lemon before shower and do this daily? And keep shaving every week?

    • For the record I am as hairy as Nev Schumann

    • Show All
  • interesting. I do the easy way out, Nair for men

    • nair wax or cream?

    • cream. Put it on, let it stay for a min and as you shower use the scub sponge it comes with. nice and smooth. lasts for a month

    • ah i see. well I'm against creams but if it works for you and it isn't hurting ur skin, then i guess keep at it.

    • Show All
  • That is a smooth man

  • ... Why didn't you just name this "my preference for body hair?"

    • because it's not just mine.

  • This is how my body is (back is not as much, but still pretty hairy) and this is how I will keep it. I feel more masculine having a lot of body hair. I only shaved once for a cosplay, I'll never do that again.

    • Awesome. You do you man. =]

    • On this we agree, everyone has the right to do what they feel more comfortable with ^^

  • I love this TAKE. I learned something. Thanks.

    • aw, im so glad to hear that! ur welcome! :D

  • Reminds me of what this guy said in a TV show:
"I don't exfoliate, I don't moisturize, and the only thing wax is my car!"

    • haha i like that! :)

  • This for men who don't want to be real men anymore. And what with this manscaping, mansplain, manspreading, where will it stop.

    • so insightful, thank you..

  • How cool is it I have the body hair shown and the square facial hair like zayn, Bateman etc without any effort like this

    • lol, super cool dude :P

  • I shave pecs and abs. Occasionally I shave armpits but that's because I tend to develop skin rashes there.

    • fair enough. u gotta find a cream for that rash, or it could be something in ur diet? and I'm guessing u keep everything else?

    • i've had rashes like that for the last 8 years, no matter what diet. i am just prone to it. i dont shave arms/legs etc, but I have tried shaving the 'unseen areas'

    • oh okay, yeah i guess it's just differences in skin response then.

  • Legs smooth
