That sounds to me like something out of a Harlequin novel and there's nothing that resembles love of a sort I can recognize -- absent wholehearted consent of a sort that rivals the actions (the more forcefully and out of the blue a guy's actions, the more consent he needs) -- that remotely resembles rape.

I am not sure what "rape" means anymore though. If it's like I got drunk and slept with someone I found unattractive the next day, then I've been raped multiple times. But if It's like, "No, stop! [pounding and kicking]" and someone forces themselves on us, then I've never been raped. With my idea of rape, there is a very simple distinction between ravishing and raping. The former is concerned every step of the way with consent, either verbal or nonverbal. At the very least it's not looking to overpower signs of rejection.

In this case it sounds like love is the excuse the woman clings to to cope with having an abusive boyfriend or spouse. There are other excuses besides love, but love is the easiest to tell oneself..
