The Sexodus: Its Viability and Potential Impact on Society

If you haven't heard of the Sexodus, it's a movement on the part of many (nearly entirely but not exclusively) men to give up their sexual lives with women. As technology grows, and forms of porn, and even sex robots, continuously improve, many men are seeing women as less necessary to their happiness than ever. Many simply don't wish to put up with relationships, instead opting to use masturbation to replace sex, and close friendship with other people replaces intimacy.

So, is this "Sexodus" viable?

Yes. As our society continues to grow more advanced, people are gaining the ability to focus on what they enjoy. A man's girlfriend probably won't like him playing WoW for 12 ours straight. A man's girlfriend, being a human being, will not always be open for sex whenever he wants it. A man's girlfriend probably doesn't give him full autonomy to do whatever he wants whenever he wants because, chances are, she's sane.

Masturbation has always been a valid replacement for sex, and while it isn't quite as good, many men prefer it's instant and readily availability to having to deal with female sexuality. Intimacy isn't as important to men as it is to women most of the time, and often to men a relationship with a woman is simply a combination of sex and friendship. While I don't PERSONALLY agree with this, it's certainly easy to understand why it's generally believed.

What is the potential societal impact?

Obviously, massive swathes of men suddenly ceasing to want relationships with women beyond friendship will have a massive impact. It will take away a large portion of sexually viable candidates, leaving only those who have success with women out there. Coupled with making the amount of relationship-seeking men much smaller, female competition will skyrocket. Women who do not try very hard, or constantly put themselves out there, will likely be left in the dust. It will also spark a boon in the porn, video game, and in many cases, food delivery industries.

While, for now, the movement mostly exists with basement dwellers who likely couldn't get a women if they did try, it's exploding. Many estimates say it will reach a large(if not majority) portion of the male population within 5-10 years, with a potential majority by 2030.

While I'm not a member of this movement, I certainly see its appeal. Without a doubt it will continue to rapidly grow.

I don't think that is the reason for it. I think most men want an intimate relationship however thanks to how society works men are marginalized and mistreated by women. Women, in general, believe they are better then they are as is evident by surveys done that show women view men vary poorly (the survey showed that women believed 80% of men where below average in looks) this is also due to our society catering almost exclusively to women. Education is designed for women (hence male drop out rates being 4x greater in all age groups and over 60% of all college graduates being female, something the educational system has actually acknowledged (as its only recently occurred, starting from the 80s and getting progressively worse the more feminized our society has gotten)) 80% of national spending (US) is by women, 70% global and this doesn't take into account the money men spend on women which they are expected to do (80% of women stated they believed the man should pay for dates) so all advertising is generally speaking directed at women (and since women watch the most TV most of its catering to them) hence the stupid dad/man trope being used so often in advertisments along side the smart mom/woman trope thus belittiling and shaming men and especially fathers since everything is designed for women to get women to by their products since they control the economy essentially. Then you have the complete disregard for male rights, for instance in divorce 80% of which are filed by women (the majority of which claim no fault) yet 80% of childsupport and alimony (in some places alimony is paid for life) are paid by the man evne though he did not dissolve the marital contract and he loses custody of his children the majority of the time so he loses his money his home and his children and has little to no recourse for it. Then you have the issue of reproductive rights where if a woman gets pregnant she can chose whether or not she wishes to keep it with out the fathers consent (giving it up for adoption, abandoning it (safe haven laws) or aborting) yet if she wishes to keep the child the father immediately has to pay childsupport (no matter the circumstances of conception (as several male children raped by older women found out (hermsmen vs seyer)).

I can understand the appeal of something like this for men. I think part of it is borne out of selfishness, since relationships do require compromise, but I think it's also partially the result of our culture being in a weird place with regards to gender. Many places in the world certainly do have falling fertility rates, but disinterest only worsens it.
