The times have changed - From the viewpoint of a 25 year old guy from Australia

Hi, how are you, I am doing very well today thanks, anyways in my 25 years of living, I have noticed how things have changed over the years and while I can’t make note of everything, I feel like sharing some of my views and experience and maybe make a few advisory quotes, to aid the younger generation.

Technology

I remember when I was 4, I was first introduced to a computer, I admit, during that time, I was not all that drawn in till a year later, I still remember Windows 98, the welcome screen was my favourite part, and I remember wasting away turning the computer on and off just to hear that awesome song that played, of course a computer would have a significant part in my life, I remember the Monitors were almost as big as a microwave, and the computers made funny noises, as technology evolved, the microwave sized monitors got thinner, smaller and better, computers did not make those funny sounds, people were carrying around mobile phones that do all manners of things, like a great time to be alive honestly, I don’t spend much time now on computers as I have a full-time job that helps me to pay the bills, but still, it makes me happy to see that technology is still evolving today, And I look forward to the future of technology.

Sex

Ok, I won’t lie, I have never had sex, nor watched porn, nor masturbated, but those aside I remember sex was something of an after-marrige thing that was not treated like a hobby like some do to this day, I mean yeah I agree sex is great, but it’s difficult to find someone around your age to enjoy a quick one night stand with because you can’t really establish outwardly who’s interested and who isn't, but then again, that is the challenge kinda, if you want the good stuff, you got to hunt for it and chase it, so yeah.

Society

I won’t lie, there are things about society that I don’t like and want to see a change in, however, I feel like society is changing for the better in the grand scheme of things, so I feel it’s better that I just keep to myself and not try to change society to the way I like it.

Crime

I mean going to jail for stealing a candy bar because you had nothing and you were just trying really hard to survive does not seem all that fair to me to be honest, I also don’t think 20 years is plenty enough for say a mass murder, like I have to say I would like the global and national justice system be more strict and to give a lifetime jail sentence only to the worst crimes like Rape and Murder.

Social life

I have always made an effort to get out at least once a week to go and socialise, and after 5 years of living here, almost everyone knows me, I’ve gained a rep as Mr. Social Life, But it has been my observation that people are turning to technology to socialise, and while that’s all well and good, in my honest opinion, actally getting out and socialising is a crucial part of life.

Kids born anytime in 2000+

I hate to say it, but it seems like parents don’t care at all about teaching their kids good virtues, traits, discipling bad habbits, acts, etc like they did when i was a baby, like just yesterday some 8 year old boy walked up to me and said “Have you got any cigarettes”, All I could think was “8 year old kids, smoking, whatever next, 4 year olds having sex”, I replied with no then politely said “You should not be smoking at your age”, the kid just said “Bite me, I’ll smoke at whatever age I want”, I just walked on feeling better that I got raised properly.

I could go on but to do so will make for a boring read I’m certain.

If you have anything to add, leave me a comment, I’d love to read your opinions and/or thoughts.

  • Another Aussie here. I am going off topic here a but I think Australia has drastically lost its identity in the last 30 years.

I remember the days of Windows 98 too and dial-up internet.
