I know this is an old debate that happened in the early 2000’s over the hip hop/rap culture and it’s effects on teenagers and young adults in regards to gun violence and gang culture but now we have a new problem in today’s music industry which requires us to start this debate all over again but this time it’s got nothing to do with the hip hop/rap culture, it’s to do with what I like to call the slut culture.
Today we have young girls as young as 10 years old singing and dancing to sexually explicit songs and once they figure out what the lyrics mean in a few years time, then those girls are going to be opened up to a toxic culture full of sex, prostitution, teenage pregnancies and possibly even sexual abuse and rape. These sexually explicit songs are basically teaching our young girls how to be sluts and whores even before they reach their teen years.
And who is responsible for this slut culture you say? Well, the blame lies firmly with artists such as Cardi B, Megan Thee Stallion, Nicki Minaj, Saweetie, Doja Cat, Charli XCX, Flo Milli, Iggy Azalea, Bebe Rexha and Ariana Grande.
All of these women have created music within the last decade that is destroying our young girl’s innocence and exposing them to the slut culture.
And which songs are guilty of this slut culture you ask? Where do I begin! How about these:
WAP - Cardi B & Megan Thee Stallion
Super Freaky Girl - Nicki Minaj
Body - Megan Thee Stallion
I Like It - Cardi B
In The Party - Flo Milli
My Type - Saweetie
Bodak Yellow - Cardi B
Positions - Ariana Grande
Hot Girl - Charli XCX
34+35 - Ariana Grande
And so many more!
But what is it about these songs that are so bad you ask? Well apart from the questionable song titles, it’s the lyrics in the songs that make them bad. Let me give you a few example:
In WAP (which actually stands for Wet Ass Pussy) by Cardi B & Megan Thee Stallion, these lyrics can be heard:
“Beat it up nigga, catch a charge, extra large and extra hard, put this pussy right in your face, swipe your nose like a credit card, hop on top, I want a ride, I do a kegel while it’s inside, spit in my mouth, look at my eyes, this pussy is wet, come take a dive, tie me up like I’m surprised, let’s role play, I’ll wear a disguise, I want you to park this big Mack truck right in this little garage, make it cream, make me scream, out in public, make a sense, I don’t cook, I don’t clean, but let me tell you I got this ring”
In Super Freaky Girl by Nicki Minaj these lyrics can be heard:
”I can lick it, I can ride it while you slipping and sliding, I can do all them little tricks, and keep the dick up inside it, you can smack it, you can grip it, you can go down and kiss it, and every time he leaves me alone, he always tells me he miss it, he want a F-R-E-A-K”
In 34+35 (which adds up to 69 (the name of a sex position) if you can’t do the math) by Ariana Grande these lyrics can be heard:
”So whatcha doing tonight? Better say ‘Doing you right?’ (Yeah), watching movies but we ain’t seen a thing tonight, I don’t want to keep you up, but show me, can you keep it up? Cause then I’ll have to keep you up, shit, maybe I’ma keep you up, I’ve been drinking coffee, and I’ve been eating healthy, know I keep it squeaky, yeah, saving up my energy, can you stay up all night? Fuck me until daylight? 34+35 (yeah), can you stay up all night? Fuck me until daylight? 34+35”
These examples are why we need to reintroduce age restrictions on songs, because clearly the “Parental Guidance” sticker system isn’t working and that is leaving a lot of vulnerable young girls exposed to the slut culture.
