So people, guys and girls, get raped every day all around the world.

Unfortunately, I was one of them.

My innocence was taken from me when I was 19 last year.

He got away with it.

Instead of my family and my best friend comforting me... they said the following...

Things Not to Say when someone has been Raped:

1. It could have been worse

I HATE hearing this. No shit, it could've been worse but being violated is already bad enough. I don't want to hear this shit.

2. How could this happen

Well gee, I didn't ask someone to come to my house and violate me. I NEVER asked for this.

3. You put yourself in that situation/It could have been Avoided.

I cannot begin to tell you how much this hurt me.... it broke my heart hearing this from my family and my best friend, who was raped herself. Hearing that from the people closest to me made me blame myself for a year and has caused me to resent them. I didn't know this guy was an animal. I didn't know he was going to take advantage of me while I was sleeping. I didn't do or say anything to make him do this. I was an innocent church girl who loved Jesus and believed in being kind to others always.

4. It's been (so and so long) aren't you over it?

Getting over something like this takes time. It can't happen overnight.... because all of the flashbacks constantly run through your mind and the hatred rises. So no.

5. Everything happens for a reason

I believe in God.. but I don't believe that he wanted me to get raped. He is a loving God not a tortureous one.
