If you are at the level of hand play, presumably it's flesh to flesh both ways. If that's true, you have a source of lube that is readily available, far more suitable than saliva and he will find intensely erotic to see and know you are using it. What I mean is that if you would use a condom to, among other things, prevent STDs, then you shouldn't be using natural juices as lube for a hand job, because the same potential STDs could be spread that way.

The problem with spit is that it can dry out quickly if you're not constantly reapplying it, and the friction skyrockets, which can be a pretty unpleasant experience lol. Just make sure to keep it wet.
