Well, exigent circumstances can be outliers. But all I’m saying is sex is incidental of an intimate relationship. Its not sex solely, but its like saying saying “this is home” without actually living there.”.

Obvi its all about usage. I say intimacy is romance, hugging, kissing, knowing a person intimately (not sex) but sex is needed to know someone. Its incidental of an actual relationship.

If having sex had anything to do with knowing someone intimately well, there would not be so many people on this site asking questions like "was my girlfriend just using me?" and "what do I say to my husband when he tells me he wants a divorce?" Romance is not sex, and sex is not intimacy. You can have sex and still not know someone intimately. At a year together I knew my husband more intimately without having had sex than most couples do at a year with having sex the whole time.

True true, but I’d say thats the opposite side of the coin. Its sex without intimacy. I still think you can't have intimacy without sex. Its not caused by sex, but sex is incidental to it.
