There different types of charges depending on what he did. There’s possession of, and making. If it’s making the. He’ll end up with child endangerment and contributing to. If he appears in the stuff then he’ll end up with a rape or molestation charge as well. This is dependent on what state you live in too.
However if he pleads guilty he probably won’t serve any time since child predators tend to be in danger when they go to prison.
Could be possession of material, or accessing certain websites as well.

You can be charged for even simply looking at it. Though I would imagine the only way your gonna be flagged is by certain sites that have people selling it or viewing it so he was doing one of them at least.
If he had found some other way to look upon it I doubt he would ever of been charged since other ways are gonna be more hard to be flagged.

Anyone under whatever the legal age of consent is in your area, engaging in sex or masturbation. Non-sexual nudity isn't considered "child porn", though surely there must be some law against taking pictures of random naked kids and selling them for profit
