You kind of have it backwards. A man using a woman just for sex is the DEFAULT situation - it's what happens automatically unless specific steps are taken and specific decisions are made.

A man who wants a RELATIONSHIP with a woman is going to make it clear that a relationship is what he's after. That doesn't mean he's not interested in sex, but his FOCUS is going to be on the relationship, knowing that, in most cases, sex isn't going to be an issue. So, if you're a girl, and the guy is talking to you about your past and the future, your morals and values and standards, your lifestyle choices and your thoughts on marriage, children, religion, family, finances, household roles, etc., those are all indications that he's serious about a relationship.

If you aren't getting those kinds of questions and discussions, then you know he's not interested in a relationship, so you KNOW that he's just looking for sex. Keep in mind, too, that for every 1 woman a man feels has "relationship potential", there are 20 others he's met who he doesn't consider to have "relationship potential", but would still happily have casual sex with while he looks for a "relationship girl."
