What are the chances of me getting an STI from giving my boyfriend a blowjob?

So yesterday I gave my boyfriend a blowjob for the first time. He didn’t orgasm in my mouth. I’m worried about what the chances are of me getting and STI/STD from him. He’s had partners in the past and says he doesn’t have any thing and they don’t. How contagious are these things? In my health classes the teacher always made it sounds like if a guy looked at you the wrong way you could get one and other people I have talked to said they are not that easily spread. Should I go get tested at some point? I’ve only done this with one other guy and I was the first person he did anything with.

  • If he didn't ejaculate, it's a more limited risk of STIs that could be transmitted - more the herpes/warts type things, and a lot of those there's visually something going on if they are contagious.

If he does ejaculate, it's still lower risk then sex, typically then you're looking at things that are in sexual fluids. Those generally need an entry path to your body, so are looking for small cuts etc (say gums etc) as entry points. That's lower risk then sex without condoms, since sex tends to cause tiny microtears in the vagina.

  • I don't know the specific chances, but there is a risk. It's better if you BOTH go get tested (no it's not really a fun idea for a date, but showing that you'll do the same should take the sting out of it- remember that every STD can also be transferred through OTHER means, so even virginity isn't a guarantee of safety). That way, you'll know you're both clean, and safe to proceed.

  • There are many different kinds of STIs that all have different degrees of risk. I'm not sure where you are but here there are easily accessible free clinics that test for everything and it's a good idea to make sure you're both being safe.

That said, I've definitely given some blowjobs without knowing for sure they didn't have anything and so far I still test clean lol

  • If he is Supposedly a Boyfriend and He Knows He Has Nothing, You'd Know when you Blow by sores on his Dick. You would Know if you get Sores from This, Even if a Lick. xx

    • He didn’t have any sores or scars or anything.

  • And he’s your boyfriend or just some guy? Limit yourself to one person.

    • He’s my boyfriend. I mean the only other person I have done anything with was my ex

    • You should be aware of anything your boyfriend has. Yes it is a risk to give oral sex this way. Good luck

  • Sexual diseases that can be transmitted orally normally are noticeable visually.

  • don't you trust him?

  • This would have been a great question to ask BEFORE you sucked him.

  • 18 year old black girl have me one so fast she didn’t care about the consequences. I’m healthy by the way but still

  • See if he has the common STD's. Plus HPV.

  • @onthelevel Sometimes you don't have that option.

  • You're probably okay. I suggest the both of you get tested so you don't have to worry as long as he's not cheating.
