The program offers a way to anonymously surrender an infant to the authorities. The organization launched the first baby box in the U. S. in Indiana in 2016, and the organization received its first surrendered newborn in 2017.

  • Yeah like @aerissa_jade said I would much rather something like that than an aborted baby. I mean I get accidents happen but that one has a lot of tell signs it shouldn’t be so hard to not get pregnant and if society did a better job teaching kids how their bodies work rather then teaching them how to use condoms we wouldn’t have the issues we have…

and that was a hot take. Lol!

But seriously! I don’t know how this box works but I would think that it would be a dozen times better then leaving your kid somewhere on the steps or aborting them.

  • This is the ultimate in female privilege. You can dump a baby and walk away without any fear of retribution.

    • They can choose to keep it and make you pay or give it up. They have all the power.

    • If they even know who the baby-daddy is.

    • They just have to name some guy - any guy will do. They pick rich ones usually.

  • I think it's an alternative way for the parents of the baby to have a safe place for the baby they couldn't or didn't want to keep.
I'd like to know, are these baby boxes at fire stations, hospitals and where else?
Another thing I am curious about. How did you become an influencer so fast? I've only noticed you here for a month or two?
So, you get to ask five questions and I have been actively on here for 1-1/2 years. Makes me go hummm?

    • I was the very first Influencer of this site. Been here a long time.

    • Wow!

  • I think it’s a good idea. It’s a much safer option than abandoning the baby on the street or even just trying to raise it when you’re really not in a place to do so.

    • I think this comment has gotten the most dislikes of any of my comments, lol.

    • They disliking me not your comment. lol I am just that loved.

  • Its better than abortion, some women could abort rather than do this, at least this gives the child a chance at life.

    • It's astonishing your answer has more downvotes than upvotes.

    • @marish01 Its cause of Coaches haters, that have made bots to downvote him and anyone who comments on him. Happens to all his questions.

    • Wow. I didn't know it. I only have seen this post of his.

  • Sad. Looks like leaving a baby in a fireplace. But ig thats supposedly better than a dumpster or someones doorstep 🧐

  • How could anyone not think that they are a great thing.

    • . Easily. Go read about adoption trauma and revise your thinking a little bit. That said, I will admit that it is better than many many alternatives.

    • I am shocked by the downvotes.

    • @marish01 LOL those downvotes are for me not her.

  • It still breaks my heart to see babies being abandoned like that. Whether you leave them in a baby box, outside the door pf orphanage or garbage can, it's not okay to bring them into this world and leave them without giving them a chance to get to know their parents. It never got the love and guidance it needed from it's parent/parents. It makes me sad.

    • And what should the parents do instead?

    • It's better to surrender them safely than dump them in a garbage can somewhere or on the side of a road like a puppy you decided you didn't want. This is why we shouldn't be forcing women to have babies that they do not want or who do not have the capacity to care for.

    • @suzzieQ are you hinting abortion?

  • Lesser evils I guess
Sad it needs to be done but what will help the baby in the end is the most importent part

  • Better this then a baby being left to die in a dumpster or back alley

  • I think it is one excellent option among many that should be available to women and couples.

  • Oh I didn't know about them... kinda sad but when the babies get a home and family that love them it's a good thing I guess

    • It's better than some of the Alternatives but it's not necessarily a wonderful thing. Read about adoption trauma.

  • We have this program since two decades, its called "life windows". In one hand providers of these boxes (mostly catholic organizations) promise anonymity then suddenly they want mothers of those babies give up paternity rights and prosecution hunts those people.

  • No. I have kids and i couldn't bear the thought of anonymously dumping them in a box... gawd. What a pathetic world we live in

  • Just another way to make it easier for people to escape responsibility and consequences of their actions.

    • Doing this or giving the baby up for adoption is better than aborting it or raising it in a bad environment. Or if it was a rape baby or something. Good access to contraception and proper education about sex and its consequences and risks can help reduce these unwanted babies. Also, I think every high school student should have to take that family studies class where you have to care for the fake baby for like a month or so.

    • @musicbrain5 How about people actually act responsibly for once? Seriously it takes what 5-10 seconds to put a condom on or if that's to difficult for people then get on the pill. It's sad we've regressed to such a point. And yes I do agree that it's better to put the kid up for adoption then abort it but still people should be acting in such a way that these situations don't pop up to begin with at least not with the startling frequency that they do.

    • I guess you didn’t read the whole comment. I mentioned contraception and that there needs to be good, affordable access to it. Planned Parenthood gives out free condoms! There is also the issue of getting more doctors to listen properly to women’s health concerns to make sure they get on the right kind of pill, but that’s a whole other discussion. I also mention giving teens a taste of responsibility with the fake baby that cries and needs to be fed and changed (those things are no joke, honestly). Your performance is measured by the computer inside of it and if your results show that you didn’t meet the doll’s needs, you fail. Also have them spend time, a lot of time, with a real baby. Maybe a family member or a neighbour with an infant who needs help for a few hours a week, or if they work on the weekends, maybe babysitting for them on Saturdays and Sundays. It is not a tall order to do offer a proper sex ed curriculum to students, nor is it a tall order to offer contraception for free or at a discount.

  • I think that it's a wonderful idea. Especially if you can't afford to take care of them or just want them to have a better life. At least leave them somewhere safe. Even though I would be heartbroken to give up my baby if I couldn't afford it but I know it will be safe and be adopted by a loving family.

  • those arr things? omfg wow ok..

  • Great idea.

  • at least baby will be safe! I am for it!

  • Then the babies end up street kids & degenerates.

    • some do for sure.

  • We need bigger ones to dump our girlfriends into.

  • There are lots of people who want babies that can’t have them so I’m glad they exist! Too many women kill their babies at birth out of fear and shame. This goes a long way in preventing those things from happening.

  • Men need a way to not have to be responsible financially for a baby before it's born.

  • Better than a trash can I guess
