What do you classify as cheating?

Anything that goes against the agreements you have with your partner. As an example, my wife and I have husband/wife friends: if he looks at another woman his wife tells him he's cheating. My wife has explicitly told me it's okay to glance at another woman and even comment that she's beautiful. She's got the perspective on it that at the end of the day I've come home to her and I started the day next to her.

But, to your question I'd say again anything against the partners' agreements and, more importantly, anything that violates the exclusivity of the relationship.

I don't use the word "cheating" because it invites arguments about whether something "technically classifies" as cheating. The gist of this is doing something contrary to what you promised your partner, violating their trust and, of course, doing it in secret so that you aren't discovered. If you must do something in secret and only when your partner is not present, it is probably "cheating."

“Cheating” is determined by TWO people. If you haven’t had a conversation or twelve coming to mutual terms about the meaning of commitment, loyalty and faithfulness in whatever kind of relationship you’re attempting, then you have NO business projecting your expectations on others, ever.

I classify it twofold. Lusting over anyone else even if just in thought when with someone, and any sexually/romantically intended physical action when with someone.

If you truly love your partner you're not gonna act shady.

By shady I mean, going for lunch alone with other men, flirting, sexting, sharing nudes, touching, holding hands, talking about sex, kissing, holding hands, oral sex, sex etc.

If you love your partner you will go home to them instead.
