What do you do if you decide not to have kids?

If you've decided not to reproduce do you continue to use contraceptives like birth control or condoms, or do you get an operation to make you sterile?

I think the operation is overall a better choice. In the long run, it's cheaper and (especially with a vasectomy) there is very little risk and a short global period.

  • I never wanted kids. All of my girlfriends were on the pill. The ones I stayed in touch with wound up getting married eventually, quit taking the pill, and raised families. None of them ever complained about any adverse side effects from the pill.

Sexually active women take responsibility for their own bodies by using contraception. Women who insist on condoms have never experienced real sex and probably don't care much about it other than to appease their partners.

  • I'm not even gonna have sex, but I plan to get sterilized anyway, just take absolutely everything out. Because humans suck. So just a precaution. Especially since they've made all abortion illegal here now.

    • Sex feels amazing, it also doesn't feel different after getting a vasectomy.

    • I'm sure it feels great I just don't want it. Even if I wanted kids, I'd rather adopt. Besides sex requires 2 people, and I don't like people in that way.

  • When I turn 30 after I'm done having kids I plan on getting my tubes removed.

I've known way too many people that had kids after having a vasectomy so definitely won't be letting my husband get that done

    • I know of someone who had a baby after getting her tubes tied, so I wouldn't say that it's better than a vasectomy, and if you actually do what your doctor tells you after a vasectomy, it's 100% effective.

    • Tubes tied vs removed are totally different things. And nah I've known people who have kids years after a vasectomy cuz it regrows back together. Not dealing with any of that

    • You realize the likliehood of that is under 5%

    • I heard that in some places in the US, you can't have one until you've had 3 kids, or are 35+.

    • The military doctors did have a questionnaire, asking about your age, and number of previous children, and reason for requested surgery.

  • I don't know, vasectomy has real risks too

    • I would say don’t risk vasectomy if you aren’t ok with possible castration… cause it’s happened.

    • Death has happened in a routine operation on a head injury. You can't remove all risks, contracpetives have risks too.
