  • That quote makes no sense which I suppose isn't surprising given it is anti-vaxxers. I have helped with vaccines over the years through work and can say most of the vaccines are perfectly fine and do exactly what they are intended to do. Some vaccines are harder than others. For example the flu vaccines are great but also theoretically useless. The flu evolves so fast that there is a chance you get vaccinated for a few strains and catch an entirely different one. It is why lab's like mine try and figure out up to a dozen possible strains in conjunction with virologists (different department same lab) who make the vaccines ahead of time. Of course sometimes mistakes happen even when they shouldn't and a bad batch of vaccines goes out. I am sure you have seen news reports of it. Pretty bad. I have been pretty good at catching them before they get shipped out.

Short story time; when I was on site more we had a guy whose job is to move crates of vaccines from storage to the trucks. Now it is extremely important that they remain cold at least during transit so we store them in a nitrogen cooler. Well he pulls the load and forgets to close the cooler. I do my rounds to check in on staff make sure everyone is good blah blah blah. Have an alert that cooler 6 is overheating. Odd I have enough coolant. So I go to check it and door is wide open. Everything in the cooler is above temperature (in "fancy terms" everything in the cooler is a biological containment and hazard.) We lost 3.6m doses of vaccine that had to be remade. Needless to say transporter got demoted for some time. Accident yes but in our line of work accidents can kill a lot of people so have to issue a punishment and I didn't want to fire him.

Have heard more than a few horror stories from doctors of anti-vaxxers going to the hospital.

    • It's all about improving the odds, it's never been about 100% protection.

  • Or rather, "together, we are a room full of nuts". Like a MAGA rally, a Qanon meeting or - as here -an anti-vaccines group. There is a reason why eradicated illnesses are coming back in the United States.

    • Exactly!

  • I can't stop laughing atm. They use a variant of the pro choice debate "my body my choice" and turn it into "my kid my choice" and bassically have the same result just theirs will be after birth and way too late. They actually DO kill children which is like the whole pro-birth debate reason. Can they like focus on these people doing postbirth abortions?

    • Why is the anti-vax baby crying? Midlife crisis.

    • I really shouldn't be laughing at that!
