What do you think of this idea to stop underage and unplanned pregnancies?

A new law could be made where it is mandatory for boys to get a vasectomy when they turn 13 to prevent girls getting pregnant. When the boy turns 18 he can get the vasectomy reversed. Routine checks could be done on teen boys to make sure they are snipped.

Superb Opinion

  • Boys who turn 13 and getting a vasectomy is a stupid rule. A vasectomy isn't always reversable.

I think boys and girls should be educated about the consequences of being a teen mom/dad and how their live will change drastically. Also, parent should talk about their teens as well. Being a teen mom/dad isn't a wise move to make, even when it's an accident. You should have sex at such a young age to begin with.

You can't finish your school, you don't have a good job, money is tight, anyway, it's really hard to be a parent at such a young age. You have a whiole life ahead of you to become a mom/dad.

  • I guess if we lived in a police state where they can have control over every part of your life and body, this could happen.
Better idea: How about parents being proactive in their children's upbringing, especially sex. So that as they mature and become exposed to different stimulus out there and know what to do with it.

    • Thanks for the MHO :)

  • Okay, let's analyze that proposal.

    1. Cost of vasectomy $1,200
    2. The cost of a vasectomy reversal includes the surgeon's fee which is generally $4,500 - $8,000 as well as the hospital and anesthesiologist's fees which, combined, range from $4,000 - $10,000
    3. Total costs: $5,200 to 11,200

Pregnancy rates after vasectomy reversal will range from about 30 percent to over 90 percent, depending on the type of procedure.

    Who will settle those costs?

    • The government

    • England give vasectomy's for free but will not reverse. Have to get private funding for that. So government pay for reversals even in a universal health care system I don't know about that.

    • So, in theory, how would families or single parents with minimum wage and income have to do? Taxpayers would have to be bear the costs even if they have no children that correspond to the profile. Just a simple math. Assuming that in the U. K. there are 100,000 new male kids every year that need to have the procedure done, it would cost the tax payer £10 billion each year...

What Girls & Guys Said

  • A vasectomy can often not be reversed. However, Girls should have IUD's or other long term BC implants until they graduate with at least a four-year college degree. I mainly say that because the number one reason that my female friends and peers tell me they dropped out of school was because they got pregnant.

  • How about the girl getting her tubes tied? It takes two so why should one sex just be required to get sterilized?

  • This would never fly, I have had friends actually get pregnant from failed vasectomy. But no I think that proper education not just in school but at home is important. Until ur ready for a baby use protection.

  • Wtf god no thats horrible! Why would you force someone to get a surgery for anything like that. Also, its not just teens getting teens pregnant. I've got three kids and none of them were from other teens.

    • You are 13 and have three kids? You definitely have an imagination.

    • @Red_Arrow I've been having sex since i was 6. Had my first kid at 10. I never make my guys use condoms so kids are a natural result of that.

    • And who is supporting you and the three kids?

  • We should just make effective contraception, like IUD's readily available without shame. vasectomy reversals are rarely effective, and forced surgery is serious abuse.

  • Terrible idea! It’s so invasive and unnecessary!

  • I’ve come to the realization that this is most likely a troll There is no place in the world knowing that would force a vasectomy on anybody it’s against their basic human rights. Right up there with slavery. Even mentioning this so casually it’s disrespectful.

  • Teenage girls can get pregnant by older men and often do. It would be simpler to just put teenage girls on contraception like an IUD.

  • wait they can be reversed i never knew that... Interesting. Wait why the hell don't everyone just do this?

    • ah okay it's free here to get one but reversal isn't much done over here and must be funded privately

  • Uh, lots, if not most of the guys getting teenage girls pregnant are actually 18 or older.

I think that’s violating the boys‘ dignity to do such a thing,

Furthermore, most unplanned pregnancies are in adult women.

Teenage pregnancy rates are a lot. lower now than when I was a Young adult.

  • This question in moot, because it can't ever happen. Not in this country anyway.

  • Unenforceable.

Parents won't allow the state to literally sterilize their children no matter how "reversible" it's supposed to be.

It's the same as trying to outlaw circumcision. You can't force people to mutilate or not mutilate their children's genitals, whichever one they want to do, they all think they have every right to do it and no one has any right to stop them.

  • Or we could just have proper sex education in schools, make multiple forms of birth control easily available, and recognize the disturbing fact that men between 20-30 father nearly 40% of teen pregnancies

  • I approve. That way the human race will perish because vasectomy is often permanent and very expensive

  • You're assuming teen pregnancies are due to teenage boys? I think more likely 19-25 yr olds preying on vulnerable young women, and then ghosting.
Really the best way is to target underage drinking. How many stories of underage sex include alcohol? In UK, where we've had a big issue in thr past, young people are drinking less, having sex later and teen pregnancy rates are dropping.

  • Um no. We don’t need to create more laws that have to do with putting regulations on someone’s body

  • good way to loose all politicians to violence.

  • HELL. NO.

No one is touching my body without my permission. And this kind of governmental control over everyone is exactly the recipe you start with to get a dictatorship

  • Do you think that there's just a bunch of ten-year-olds on this site? Gtfoh with that crap.

  • That’s retarded.
