Some people have fairly horrendous childhoods and lots of bad shit happens, I found out last year a guy I went to school with was abused by his uncle, I was the 2nd person told after his wife, they have been married 20 years, some stuff takes that long to tell.
I think it comes down to a mix of personnel preference and maybe personal values or religion, etc.
Personally I prefer not to know, leave that shit in the past where it belongs, it's got no place in the present nor future.

Well, because, my expectations of a person who expects continued affection, commitment and monogamy from me (for, presumably years and years to come) are, obviously, going to be far greater than the expectations I have of a casual partner, friend with benefits or a hookup. The same way I won't expect a hookup to have a successful career, aligned life goals, ambitions, superior intelligence or attractive personality traits, I don't expect them to have a low body count either. I don't need any of those things to be sexually attracted to them. I am going to expect those things from a committed partner, however. Because to them I will have to be attracted to in a lot more than just the sexual way. I don't judge anyone for their sexual behavior or anything, but sexual exclusivity IS an attractive trait to me. Of course it makes me feel more special to have a partner who values their sexual availability in some way and deems me a worthy recipient of what is a privilege in their head (even if I don't value my own sexual exclusivity in any way). Does it make me a hypocrite because I'm not sexually exclusive myself? Yeah, sure, I don't care. Women want me to be "more" in a multitude of ways- more confident, more composed, more ambitious, more intelligent, more dominant, more socially entertaining, more successful, more wealthy, more fit et cetera. I think it's only fair for me to levy some "more"s on them in return.
