  • At first I wondered the same thing. I always thought we didn't have them in Wales. I even had to check if there was even a Welsh word for cheerleader. The closest I've found is codi hwyl which is interesting because because hwyl means fun and codi means to get up, raise, erection, that kinda thing. So effectively a cheerleader is someone who has fun with erections.

    • This is what i got when Googled codi hwyl: CODI HWYL: ‎Come aboard the pirate ship 'Y Fellten Ddu' for fun matching games designed to teach and practise Welsh vocabulary! The app includes 10 themes; Food and Drink, Clothes, Animals, Weather, The school, The house, Shopping, Hobbies, Holidays, Celebrations. Suitable for ages

    • It can also mean raise the sails, generally something that lifts the spirits. But I think a more literal translation as erection fun is closer to the real purpose of a cheerleader.

    • well-said. thank you

  • They are purely eye candy because men run major sports and it’s an excuse for men to objectify women. I’m not complaining.
