What makes for interesting roleplay?

Is it the costumes, the talk, the immersion or what? By the way this isn't me "judging" a kink I've just never done it and am curious as to the appeal of it

It’s pretty much the whole package.

we would sit and work out a storyline, do some scenes thst we wanted.

then we might spend 4 weeks building the role.

this could be clothing, immersion as the character, letter writing.

Gradually brining it all to life on final day

we would also have short ones from say meeting as strangers in a hotel bar…etc

It's all the above and what you put into it it can be a total blast it can be funny is always very sexy you can be so real it can be really dumb but most of all is just fun and it can be very hot k i n k now that's when you're at home. And with your significant other are your girlfriend or boyfriend or your friends with benefits,,, and then you also have online role playing which is hot it is kinky it is intense and it around about where it's two different things the first one at home you're with somebody you know is significant other who have you online it's usually a complete stranger and that makes it very very hot and intense. And then you also have on the phone can you like phone sex that's even more intense than all the above because that is done with energy and if you knew anything about energy you know how to touch somebody with energy and you know exactly what I mean at home that's more of a physical thing energy is just unreal the hottest the sexiest. Now I look at this and I have to laugh a little bit because a year-and-a-half two years ago I would have never even been answering this question I would have never in a million years even admitted that I did roleplay or had role play. Because I thought it was the stupidest thing ever until a question about it. I told them what I felt about it. And then he made a bet with me on something and I thought for sure I had the right answer but I lost and if I lost I had to go play her. Well I'm about an hour and a half later when we are finished you first called me a liar and laugh because she said that was the best roleplay she's ever had in her life I told her I thought it was the hottest thing I've ever done in my life and from that day forward I am stopped period. So if you haven't experienced it you really need to I think you would absolutely love it according to a lot of your answers and your questions I think you would absolutely love it

its imagination.
its the effort you go through to bring some spark and fun and slightly different pleasure to your partner.
sharing your ability to pretend is sorta like showing someone your singing voice. its a little part of baring your soul to your partner, being vulnerable but trusting ur partner to accept you regardless.
can be very fun and satisfying.
