  • I was in Denmark the day before we were set to board a Baltic cruise and since hotels are so expensive there, we booked a travel lodge bunker that was too small even to hold a shower inside and my dad had to climb to an upper level to sleep and there was no restraint next to his bed to prevent him from falling off if he rolls over in his sleep but it was surprisingly free of all previous germs by other guests, it’s just, we all had a lot of sweat due to how cramped and plastic our sleeping space was, but that’s because a good hotel there would run you over a thousand dollars a day and we were going purely to sleep and board our cruise ship the next day.

    • Oh wow! Upper level? Like bunk bed?

    • yes I think so. But there was no railing to protect. you from falling off if you roll over in your sleep.

    • Hoo boy lol

  • My AAU team did a good job picking hotels, but my momma being cheap decided to choose a different one. We stayed there like 10 minutes before we went to a new one.

I was like 15 and it mold on the ceiling. Prostitutes all over the place, roaches.

Gunshot surrounding us. I was like momma we can't stay here🥺

    • Oh no! 👎 mold is not ok

    • Yeah she booked it online at last minute and we realized it was bad when we got tjere🤣

    • I’ve done this before but never THaT bad lol. Usually if they advertise online they are somewhat ok in my experience

  • I got stranded on a small town because the gas stations closed and the only place to stay was this old rickety hotel in the middle of town. I got a room and it was on the 2nd floor directly above the bar. Old wooden floor you could see through the cracks into the bar and the smoke came up through the floor. There was a sink in the room but the showers were down the hall. I opened the door in the morning and decided instantly that I could do without a shower for a day.

It was definitely an interesting stay.

    • Omg! That’s an interesting place for sure!!! I wouldn’t like the smoke through the floor no way

    • It wasn't a very enjoyable place to stay but I didn't have any options.

  • I once stayed at what I thought was a nice hotel, ground floor room. I got out of the shower, picked a towel off the rack and started to dry myself off. Two large brown cockroaches fell off the towel and scooted across the floor. I grabbed the other towel, shook it to make sure it was clean, and finished drying off. Good thing I was checking out that morning.

    • Cockroaches 🪳 are definitely unwelcome. I’ve had them walk across my chest while sleeping and I don’t like it

  • The Sir John motel, somewhere along I-95 in Massachusetts, around 1971.

    • Interesting name lmao! Why

    • I was 16 years old, we stayed there overnight once while travelling from Florida to Maine, and I may have suppressed some of the memories. I remember the name because my younger brother and I often made fun of places by calling the the Sir John.

    • I looked it up and there was a chain of them actually. Terrible name lmao

  • America's Best Value Inn in St. Cloud, MN. The front desk staff were barely awake, outside the door I was supposed to park at there were people shooting up, the thermostat in my room sparked when i tried to adjust it and I never got any heat, the shower wouldn't drain, all but one lamp didn't have a light bulb, and the door chain was cut off.

    • That’s a bit much even for me! I have two Hard rules, working shower and clean bed. I stayed at a highway hotel in PA that had literal holes in the walls and plastic over the window above the cheap hollow wood door to the outside. But the bed was clean and I’m interested in antique plumbing techniques so it was definitely ok

    • The junkies outside would’ve discouraged me for sure.

  • Really nasty motel outside Austin when we ventured down on what we didn't realize was graduation weekend at the University of Texas.

  • Hotel Verkhovina in small town in Ukraine. Soviet design and soviet furniture, might have cockroaches and toilet is not in the room.

    • I hate it when the toilet is down the hall 😠

  • I went to Nova Scotia with two friends. We planned on camping out but it was too cold so we stayed in this real fleabag hotel.

    • Oh it can be very cold there

    • It was the end of October and it was below freezing.

    • Just stick to the geothermal pools during that time

  • The Pickwick Hotel in San Diego.

    • Looks like a decent place

    • It was 30 years ago when I was there. Maybe something changed.

    • Website says it’s completely refurbished. The world definitely changed

  • Any Motel 6.

    • Mostly agree lol

  • One that was near an airport. The place looked cheap AF.

  • Motels are actually worse than hotels but I went to a hotel where the sheets had stains that was visible with the naked eye, it smelled like weed and sex, no towels in the bathroom and it was just really dirty. I complained to the manager and they gave me and my girlfriend a suite for the price for a regular room.

    • Motels you can usually park out front and that’s convenient

    • That true but I feel that where guys take hookers to have and drug addicts go. I also seen a couple fights break out there.

  • Grand Hotel, Scarborough. The pits of the world.

  • Shitty Red Roof Inn.

  • Motel 6

  • Motel 6 down south, there was cockroaches around and not much for bedding on the bed

  • i've stayed at a lot over the years , not sure any were actually dirty in that sense. or did i see anything criminal take place. one i stayed at with my father and there was a bar in the lower level so was noise and such all night and it seemed like a pretty iffy bar in the sense , not a place i'd want to go to. but the hotel itself was clean and no real issues

    • Clean sheets and a working shower is code for a night when traveling. The noise from the downstairs bar would’ve sucked though, I’ve had to deal with that before and es no bueno senor

    • it was a weird bar to , near a military base so crowd mostly guys and girls working there seemed kind of old for the bar scene. was suppose to be some sort of night club maybe? but weird place for a night club as that town not really known for having a club scene

    • There’s always a potential near a base for debauchery lll
