Whats the naughtiest thing you did or your peers did to a substitute?

Today my class had a substitute for most of the period. I needed to stop and discuss something with another teacher. I figured the kids should be fine. After all they're with an adult. I met with the teacher. Then made my way to the class.

As the classroom came into sight I slowed. A man I did not recognize was hovering by the classroom door. With everything going on now a days I became alert and quickly searched him over... For some sort of indication he worked here. Seeing the badge I relaxed. Then I thought "sub" and continued. Only to pause completely in my tracks.

"Wait why is he standing outside the classroom?" It took me a sec before I lightly wracked myself on my forehead... I couldn't help the snicker of mixed annoyed humor. " Of course it would be these kids of all the kids in the school to be the ones to lock a substitute out of the class!" I made haste and approached the man.

I said Hi. He looked flustered. "They locked you out didn't they?" He went even redder and nodded. I banged on the class door. No response. I said wait here and proceeded to get security and head of the house.

We were finally let in. Now the head of the house isn't someone most kids mess with (even I avoid him) however this group of infamous kids have been known to try even him though they always backed down... To him.

Where normally I am calm and patient I suddenly cut the Head of the house off and took over the scolding of my class. This class of rowdy kids looked like they wanted to crawl under their desks. Heads and shoulders slumped. I used tactics which made them feel ashamed of their behavior... My method compliment them and then point out what they should have done and avoid calling them "bad". I straightened them out and the head of the house walked away giving me girth.

The rest of the class period went smoothly.

I felt really bad for the sub. He was rather embarrassed as news carried around the school of what happened to him.

Superb Opinion

  • I'd say it was more rude than anything, I didn't feel like being in class so I walked out in front of the class and substitute, he only followed me to the door of the classroom and I walked away saying nothing, if ima be honest I still don't know what he was telling me til this day

    • Wait nevermind it might have been the normal teacher

    • That's funny we have a few of those who wander off. It's a pain in the butt to track them down. Kids don't understand the pressure we are under to make certain we know where each person who is under our care is at all times. Especially now a days when security is taken very seriously

    • What do you do if that kid leaves the school tho? Lol

  • In my classes we really liked our regular teachers. So if we were bad to the substitute the regular teachers would scold us when they returned. Sometimes that felt as bad or worse than our parents scolding us. When our beloved teachers were mad at us it wasn’t fun anymore, so we learned quickly not to be too mean to subs.

  • We always treated substitute teachers the same as any other teacher. We'd even help them by letting them know what we were studying at the time. We knew they were basically just baby sitters, so we didn't expect a lot from them. I don't recall a single person giving them a hard time.

  • It's been 52 years since I was in high school. I don't remember anything except being a little angel!

    • 😇😇😇

  • We had corporal punishment at school back then, so we didn’t do anything to substitute teachers. Bring back the rod and this nonsense will stop fast.

    • They still have it down south

  • We had this poor sub teacher who did not teach the class-room and all she did is let bullies get away with causing trouble in the class and students would laugh like heck.

    • Oh that's tough I don't allow bullying

    • @meetkitty123 Yeah, I agree

  • oh man, in 7th grade we used to get this poor lady as a substitute in Math class. We used to make her cry. i am not proud of this.

    • Awe poor teacher

  • This sounds so far fetched. In grade 11 our substitute teacher was really hot and young. She swung both ways... I didn't do anything with her... but my friend did.. in a club... and she taught his class that week

    • Yes that sounds far fetched but sadly there are idiotic teachers who risk there reputation and risk being arrested and put on the sex offenders list (as they should be male or female. Just because you are an attractive female does not give you a pass on abusing minors) because they don't know how to keep it in there pants and keep their hands off of children. Such things if discovered would not have been allowed to happen she was lucky not to have gotten caught. It doesn't even matter if the student was 18 if the person is in a position of authority and they messed with a student it's automatic termination. Under age and it's the sex offenders list for them... On a different note I definitely know kids act differently with teachers who are attractive. I see this a lot. Kids are nicer to me.

  • I can think of a LOT of naughty things I'd like to do to a "sub." :)

  • I put a rubber snake in the chair... was going to do thumbtacks but

  • Took cardboard off bangers from France, lit them, put in a hinged top desk and watched the banger blow the lid off it's hinges and fill the classroom with burning paper,,

  • Nah I don't have an experience to share here 😄😄😄
