Pretty much if you think of any and all the prime time t. v. shows that you know of. Animate it in a somewhat specific art style. Use japanese voice actors. Then poof, you have an anime.
I've never seen anime porn. I'm not saying it's not out there, I'm just saying it's probably not as common as you think.

Anime is actually pretty cool if you give it a chance. You can like anime without going overboard with it. I used to think it was incredibly weird but some have really good storylines
Definitely sit down and watch some episodes with him or take the time to do some research. I’m sure there are things you enjoy that he doesn’t, however does them for you. Eg. my boyfriend watches afl with me because i love it! So he sits with me to watch it and is learning the rules :)
I like anime too, but usually I’ll be on my phone watching a different one than he is while we cuddle.

Maybe look and see if there’s any that may interest you. There’s a ton of different ones, it’s not all just porn. Your boyfriend liking anime is also not something to make a huge deal about.
Ask him to show you some anime. Grab popcorn and try. Its tv just from a different culture. Lots of genres in it so dont worry if you dont like the first one so much.

Find a genre of anime you can get into. Not all anime is porn, or weird high school kids. There's different genre's for everyone just like with western entertainment.
I know nothing about anime but if I was with someone who was, I would just ask them to explain it to me and why they are interested in it.
