Whats worse? Rape or false rape allegations?

Curious as I've seen many guys on G@G making a bigger deal about false rape allegations than actual rape cases. I don't wish neither anyone. And tell my why you picked what you did, why is it worse.

  • Both are bad but rape is worse overall. If you were raped as a child for instance it can have extremely devastating effects to some individuals psychologically to a point that some parts in the brain don't even develop right. Rape can cause mental issues to surface due to the trauma it causes to some people. For me weeks after I was raped I suffered so much paranoia and nightmares despite all the help I was getting at the time, and I still think about it every single day.
While many say rape can be brought to justice, it doesn't always, or even often at all. Even if it does get to justice its not going to cure all the psychological issues that came with it. And you will constantly have people who don't believe you and/or will blame you for being raped.

False accusations are awful, especially when they do end up in jail where they themselves could be raped (not every inmate get raped guys :I), and get it on their criminal record that will stay with them forever. However, there have been cases where he was put to jail and taken out after being proven innocent later, which means it doesn't go on his record. Even those who only get as far as court (which is only as far as majority of false rape allegations go) and walk out not guilty they don't get anything on their record. Rape is a difficult case to get through in court no matter what gender you are. And if you walk out innocent with no criminal record and society still shunning you, people leaving you, MOVE TO A DIFFERENT CITY OR COUNTRY. Start again. Its sad that one has to do that but it is what it is at least they have the option to do that instead of having to live with consequences that caused mental and psychological issues that will stay for the rest of ones life or for many many years. And lastly, false accusations happens far far less than rape happens.
Both bad but rape is worse.

  • I def think that a crime, any crime, is worse than being falsely accused of committing it.
Innocent people are being accused of crimes everyday, they get a trial and mostly are judged as innocent. Unfortunately there are also cases in which they don't and that's terrible, but I don't think doing time for a murder you didn't commit is worse than being murdered. The same with rape.
And rape is an incredibly difficult crime to prosecute. "Beyond a reasonable doubt" and yet with a lot of rape cases he said she said is all you have. So I don't know by what standards a false allegation would be worse than the actual crime?

    • Both are bad but false allegations can ruin that man's life for as long as he lives.

    • @Jeeevan As can rape. But the chances of being found guilty of rape when you ARE guilty is marginal. The chances of being convicted when you aren't even lower. Rape ruins your life. A false allegation in most cases your life temporarily unpleasant

    • Not true, im sure rape allegations have turned a man's friends against him, family against him, even people in the community against him. He could have a criminal record for something he didn't do which could stop him from getting a job too.

  • I don't have to explain this one, because the answer is clear. How can being raped/raping someone compare to being falsely accused of rape? Accusation is nothing, because you know deep down that you are truly innocent. Sure people may look down on you and some will believe you're guilty, but you know in your heart that you did nothing wrong. However, actually raping someone is far worse, since you have that knowledge weighing you down constantly. The shame and guilt of what you did will eat at you. Actually being raped would be even worse, since there's pain too and a bad memory.

    • But if the guy is sent to prison he will be raped 5x a week.

    • @Kuqezi Still, he's innocent. He can walk out after his time is up (if he didn't get a life sentence) and live a normal life. Better yet, he has a chance of the person that accused him to change and tell the truth, setting him free, so he can get out of prison fast. Being truly guilty is different. If you've actually seen a rapist in person, years after the event, you would know that they do not live a normal life. They'll never be as happy as they once were. They'll never be guilt-free of anything. An innocent man can, though.

    • So a person serving time in person for something that he didn't do and being raped 5x a week can live a more normal life than someone that's been raped once? Ok...

  • Rape. Obviously. Your body is violated. It attacks your sense of self, your sexual and emotional health, and leave you feeling vulnerable and broken. On top of all that, you either have to suffer in silence or go public, knowing full well that many people won't believe you and even among those echo do, many will blame you in whole or in part for what happened, and that it's incredibly unlikely that your attacker will be charged and even if they are they probably won't even see the inside of a jail cell.

The two are not remotely comparable.

    • Rape is no where near as serious as false allegations.

    • @bobbyxx It's been over 10 years since I was raped and it still affect me. Fuck right off false accusations are worse... gimme a damn break.

    • No, stand by what I say. I'm right

  • they are both incomparable crimes, but we can compare the recovery. rape can take years to recover from but so can a false allegation, you will lose your job, family and friends and you may have to move to another country to start a new life. id say they are equally as bad.

  • both are terrible and hurt the victim in a different way.

but while the rape victim has at least the chance to get over what happened, someone who is rotting forever in jail or even gets the death sentence (depending on the country) can't.

    • but then again, who am I to judge what's worse. at the end it depends on luck and how the individual person deals with it. but it's quite shocking seeing how some girls make it sound like false rape allegations aren't that bad here.

    • The only issue is that not all false allegation victims get convicted, few do. And of course those that do get convicted go through devastating consequences but most don't get convicted, yet many guys on here don't seem to take that into account and still think rape isn't even close to being as bad as that.

    • of course, but you don't even need to be convicted for it to have devastating consequences on your life. If you are labeled as possible rapist, you can start over again somewhere else. But like I said... I don't wanna judge what is worse. Some rape victims get quickly over it, other never and might even commit suicide. Some victims of wrong allegations don't get convicted and can continue as if nothing happened, other rot forever in jail. I think it's unfair comparing best and worst case of 2 completely different crimes. at the end only one thing matters... both can fuck you over forever, so they are both massive crimes and should punished hard. Someone who makes wrong rape accusations should get the same punishment as the rapist. Just because there is a chance that he won't get convicted is no reason to not punish someone. Someone was willing to put someone forever in jail and ruin their life, that's the only thing that matters and that's what you need to punish.

  • Both is worse. There is nothing worse or better than the other. If rape happens, the victim is traumatized for LIFE. If a person is falling accused of rape, they can still get locked up for years, have that stigma locked in their brains for LIFE, they will need counseling equally as rape victims, and it can go on their permeant record. That is not easy to get off your record even if you was falsely accused.

  • Rape because false allegations has a detrimental affect on your emotionally state , but rape also has the risk of HIV or other STD's.

  • Rape, but not by a whole lot. False rape accusations can be incredibly devastating.

  • Hands down, rape. Just ask a girl who has been raped.

    • Or a guy.

    • @sj2107 I'm sorry, you are right. Bad omission on my part.

    • I'm glad you said that. I've not heard anyone fix that. You're a truly good guy.

  • Rape of course, especially in my country where the court won't even take rape allegations seriously if there isn't sufficient evidence eg a video or witnesses, so if you have a false rape accusation filed against you you've got absolutely nothing to worry about.

  • rape is worse but both are horrible

it's really irrelevant which is worse so i think anyone trying to fight over which is worse is wasting their time

  • Both... one is being blamed for something didn't do which can tarnish their reputation and hurt people's view and trust in them. Yes they can be proven innocent but sometimes the damages are just to big to repair. And sometimes that person still may be charged with rape even if they didn't do. Then you have some one who is being taken against their will.. it a horrible experience for the victim that can leave them scared for life. So I wouldn't want to be accused or raped.. both horror and terrifying to go through.

  • Don't compare victims. I wouldn't want either to happen to me or someone I love. I find it strange people on here like to fling around and compare to horrible situations like it's nothing.

  • Honestly, being falsely accused of a heinous crime seems almost as bad as a heinous crime itself.

But at least if you are falsely accused (in America) - you are "presumed innocent" until PROVEN guilty.

Maybe if falsely accusing someone of crimes like rape or murder carried similar penalties to those crimes, it would't happen very often. :)

    • Unless you are living in Canada where an accusation is enough to convict. His word against hers, he's guilty.

  • They're both horrible, and very different.

  • False accusations are worse obviously. At least, the person falsely accused is not looking for it !

    • What?

    • Exactly. Three butthurt females downvote.

    • He's saying rape victims are looking for it. There's "butthurt" and there's completely taken aback by psychotic statements like thatx

  • Being accused of something you didn't do is worse than being raped. If you get raped today, you can continue with your life tommorow, whether the scars heal or not (it's up to the raped person) but going to jail or even being castrated (it's a law in my country for rapists and pedophiles) for something you didn't do is worse because you can't continue with your life... You're locked up between 4 walls, threathened all the time, and even if you get castrated you can't have children anymore. Why? Because someone lost their mind...

    • I have never heard of anyone being castrated in the US due to rape or pedophilia... So you're saying just because you've been to jail you can't continue with your life? What about those who only go to jail for a year? A few months? End of the world? I don't think so. Some have been locked up for many years but still manage to get back to society.

    • But what if you live in a country where they will castrate you? Even if you are in for one year only, after they've castrated you, there is no way to have biological children... And as people already mentioned. What if you get raped in prison? What if you get killed there? You're literally being stripped off of your freedom regardless of how long for...

    • And what countries do they castrate people exactly? Never heard of that in my life

  • Rape affects one person, which is horrible all by itself. Still, false rape accusations not only are a huge part of all rape accusations, they are made to profit on an inocent man's despair. He was imprisoned as a rapist, he may not last long in jail, because, at least in Brazil, rapists need a separate area, otherwise even the worst drug dealers kill them. The chance to prove your innocence will not come easily and even if you do get out of prison you'll still have spent quite a lot of time in there, your job opportunities will be very few to none and you may as well be lynched in the street if people find out you've been arrested as a [false] rapist. Furthermore, false rape accusations undermine the actual rape cases and further instigate police officers to search for incoherences in the story (which usually leads to a feminist outrage that they're blaming the victim) and slow down the process.

  • Both are awful and ruin lives :/

    • @Luci92: Completely agree. It would be best if neither ever happened.

    • @mwin2030 yeah agreed.

  • Both are criminal offences. But Rape is an aggressive violent act. False allegations are just that, allegations

Now if you said a man/women being convicted of false allegations vs rape, thats a whole different ball game

  • Both are bad but rape is a million times worse.

  • I'm going to go with rape here, but that doesn't mean I think false allegations aren't as bad. They're terrible, terrible things that ruin the lives of perfectly fine guys permanently, just because some bitch wanted payback. :/

  • when a man (I don't remember his name) was attacked by saying that being falsely accused of rape is worse, his response was "having been both, I believe that I can give an honest opinion.

  • 💩💩💩💩💩💩💩
    Lying vs actual rape.

    • forever in jail vs the chance of recovery

    • @Yumix False rape allegations are allegations, and the judicial system is put in place to protect the innocent. That's like saying being falsely accused of murder is worse than having actual crimes committed against you with bodily harm. Rape is physically painful as well as emotionally scarring, and guys need to realize they could be on the raped end as well.

    • I'm not saying one thing is worse than the other, read my opinion and comments on it to know what I think about it. the tltr version is: I don't think you can compare both, but at the end both can fuck you over and destroy your life. I made the comment because I didn't like how you made it sound like one thing is nothing. So the judicial system takes care of it? Then why are the majority of rape victims afraid of going to the police? because it's a long, painful process where at the end the rapist might not even get sentenced. With false rape allegations, there is only very few evidence that you can take to make a judgment, and the longer you wait the more difficult it is. At the end it often comes to the point where the credibility of the statements decide, which ends so/so. Not even talking about the fact that you don't need to be sentenced to get your life ruined. If you run around as possible rapist, you can start over somewhere else.

  • I think both of them are terrible crimes and the people who commit them deserve to be in jail. But rape is a lot worse because the damage done is both physical and emotional.
