When you finally get the guy/girl why do you still want nudes?

When your dating and don't get so lucky I can understand why you may ask for a nude because well you probably won't see it in the flesh. But once you're dating and sleeping together, why do you still want them to send you pictures?
Surely the real thing is more exciting than receiving pictures?
And if the person has already made it clear they're not comfortable doing that type of thing surely you'd drop asking as it's a boundary they don't want to cross...
