I'm OK with either and have seen both male and female. I generally like seeing female doctors because they show more genuine concern for patients than male doctors to me. Getting seen naked is awkward either way and not really any more so when the doctor is female.
I just have one urologist, and he is a man. I have to say, I would not feel comfortable getting undressed in front of a female urologist.

I don't get annual checkups, they are a waste of time and just increase the risk of catching infections that cause the problems they are looking for.

I've been to an urologist 3 times in my life. Ine was for a vascetomy so it wasn't really an appointment with him. He's my doctor and he's involved in the surgery. The other two times were about my vascetomy. The appointment to discuss it and set up a time and then the one to see how I was doing. My only other two interactions with his office were dropping off semen samples.
