Which religion is it that most male babies get circumcised nowadays?

And guys who were circumcised as babies, do you feel like it caused trauma and emotional/mental long term side effects on you?

  • By numbers? Islam. Judaism requires it, too, but there are far fewer of them, and while there ARE more Christian than Muslims, I'm not aware of any sects that require it, and Catholicism (the largest) outright bans it.

An eight-day-old boy (the point at which it was traditionally done) is not a Jew, he is not a Muslim, he is not part of ANY religion, organized or otherwise. He is a baby. Forcing it on a child is senseless brutality, and it's a mark of shame to our species that we let it last out of the stone age, let alone into the modern one. The gender of the child has nothing to do with it; if you wouldn't do it to your daughter, you shouldn't do it to your son.

How does that saying go? "My body, my choice"?

    • I was thinking per-capita not total when I answered but I agree with you entirely.

    • @namerofstars I don't know where the fonk you got your information, but you are seriously wrong. I grew up catholic. It was encouraged in the faith, and I don't know one male in my 55 years that isn't circumcised. That is period, not just Catholics. Though I am not any religion anymore.

    • @godfatherfan I got my information from the Catholic Church, dingus- which is why I'm pretty explicitly NOT wrong. Paragraph 2297 of the Catechism, makes it pretty clear, and Eugenius IV's papal bull in 1445 and Paul VI's in 1971 remove all ambiguity. I'm sorry that you were mutilated in the name of the Church, but even at the time, it was clearly against doctrine.

  • I grew up with other things causing trauma. Didn’t know it was a thing until I became an adult and expanded my social circle

  • hey, im uk and its not custom here, i recall being surprised in my fourties with a doctored version... for the first time... i dont think it should be allowed just as much as female genital mutilation... i mean what the a. f in 2024 we are still mutilating new born babies sexual organs... it blows my mind honestlyl..

  • Religiously I think it’s still Jewish (by Mosaic law), however since the late ‘90s several countries recommend doing it at the hospital shortly after the birth for health reasons.

  • Probably more location than religion!

    • This is only half true. Religion is a influence for most genital mutilation that takes place in regions that have a very low rate of occurrence. The UK for example.

  • Judaism followed closely by Islam. I don't think many American's realize that circumcision is not actually required for Christians. 1 Corinthians 7:18 states "Was any man called when he was already circumcised? He is not to become uncircumcised. Has anyone been called in uncircumcision? He is not to be circumcised."

  • it is fonking ridiculous that women keep saying "trauma" for circumcision. You are an infant, you have no clue what is going on.
I am circumcised as are my 3 boys. It had nothing to do with religion. It is healthier for males to be circumcised.
On top of that, they would look very out of place in the USA if they were not.
Their mother is a nurse. She worked in an all female office. They all said that an uncircumcised cock would be a deal breaker for them. every single one.
Women need to mind their business, just like men need to stay out of women's who-haw.

    • You do realize circumcision rates have drastically dropped in the US over the last decade. It will eventually be weird for a man too be circumcised in the US. Some states like Washington and Nevada only 5-10% of baby boys are circumcised

    • "You are an infant, you have no clue what is going on." - You could not be more wrong.

    • "It is healthier for males to be circumcised." - Really? How? Explain.

  • Jews and Muslims. And yes men that get cut as babies have deep trauma. Usually something they don't even notice cause they've lived with it their whole lives

    • Come-on Apple it's not a Trauma when they don't know any difference

    • @katiesmuff it is still trauma even if they don't remember it. It's the same for people that were raped as infants. The body and brain holds onto trauma especially if it's done in the beginning of life

    • @katiesmuff it also makes men hate women because their mother never protected them in their most vulnerable moments. Leaves a deep mother wound

  • So long ago, I don't remember.

  • Kind of an odd question something to be curious about lol but it did give me a laugh. 😅 And thankfully I was circumcised as a baby so no problems mentally because of it actually glad about it

  • I can't say I've experienced longterm trauma because I was cut as a newborn. (But the act of circumcision itself has to be immediately traumatic for a baby. ) But I do wish I had a foreskin. I'm strongly opposed to the routine, non-medically necessary genital mutilation of baby boys. I'm also strongly opposed to the genital mutilation of girls/women.

  • Circumcisions are generally not religion-based, though some are. They are often done , shortly after birth, at the recommendation of the boy's pediatrician, based on the doctor's past experience and education about the benefits of circumcision.

I am circumcised, happened shortly after I was born, and my two now-grown sons were also circumcised shortly after they were born. None of us have emotional/mental issues.

  • Only 2 religions require that. Judaism which invented this nonsense and Islam which copied it. Christianity and all the other 45 thousand religions do not require such nonsense.

  • No religion I know of much, I got circumcised as a baby back in late 60s and as a teenager I still had wet dreams, wake up with boners and I couldn't do anything to I jacked off and yes it was amazing and mind-blowing orgasms see I still have foreskin I had an old time Dr Bill who did it in his office without complications to this day I wonder why my sex drive was so high?

  • I don't know. I don't pay attention to religion. It's a man-made waste of time.

  • Islam and Judaism. My Husband is circumcised and he doesn't have any trauma from being circumcised.

  • There is a pretty substantial decrease in getting STDs when you are circumcised, so it has a medical advantage as well

    • Not true at all.

    • @Siri137

Health benefits: Male circumcision can reduce a male’s chances of acquiring HIV by 50% to 60% during heterosexual contact with female partners with HIV, according to data from three clinical trials. Circumcised men compared with uncircumcised men have also been shown in clinical trials to be less likely to acquire new infections with syphilis (by 42%), genital ulcer disease (by 48%), genital herpes (by 28% to 45%), and high-risk strains of human papillomavirus associated with cancer (by 24% to 47% percent).

  • i feel like it's either a Christian or Catholic thing to have circumcisions. But i'm not entirely sure anymore. But that shit mainly seems to happen in the US. I say if it was natural for a man to not have any foreskin on his cock then he would've been born that way, so therefore it's pretty damn stupid to have a boy's foreskin removed. Not to mention sex feels better with the foreskin so i've heard.

    • Christian OR Catholic? Catholics were the very first Christians.

    • @Siri137 Well that's the thing i'm not entirely sure about. I feel like it was a Catholic thing though that became widespread in the US. I notice that men from other countries are usually uncut versus most men in the US. So I guess they don't adopt the Catholic belief regarding circumcision like the US does.

  • Wasn't it Islam or Judaism or both?

    • And for non-religious, some guys just get it done because they want to for aesthetic, hygiene, or skin issues. I for one know I need the procedure if I ever want to be sexually active or have cleaned standards lol. Tightness, sigh 😔 ah well. I've been putting it off since Covid

    • Have you thought about other methods to get rid of the tightness? There are ways to stretch it

    • Nah I went to a doc, a specialist also, 2 opinions, I also feel like personally had I been sexually active in my 20s, I'd have gotten it done far earlier and easy done lol ✅👍🏻 ah well. At 30s, I'd now only get it down for hygiene benefits lol rather than to "use the tool lol with the lady/ladies" aka girlfriend/wife/friends with benefits/dates ♀️👠

  • i guess it's not a religious thing in the usa. it's more a thing about the medical industrial complex spreading missinformation so that people get a surgery for their child. easy money.

  • That would be Judaism

  • I am circumcised and love it. It looks great, no smeg or extra cleaning to worry about, it’s awesome. My boys are circumcised too and it has nothing to do with religion, its about looks and cleanliness. Uncut is gross in looks, smell and smeg.

    • What do you have against body autonomy?

    • @Nifrayu Jersey2 just told you his opinion!

    • @katiesmuff He also said his children are circumcised. If that was their choice, then that's fair. If he took their choice away, then didn't honor their basic human right to bodily integrity.
