It's always been this way in history pretty sure, but yeah both are sluts and double standards. The reason why it's worse for women though, is because they should be keeping their sexuality to themselves instead of giving it away for free. There are more virgin males than virgin females. And females statistically lose it earlier than men. So, that's why a female virgin is more prized because she's able to keep her virginity for so long and even in a sexualized culture. Also, she is able to not fall for a man's seductions unlike other women (sluts).
The "stud" is simply just performing a mating dance (using his status, appearance) to lure women and they fall for it. Women also prefer men of higher status, looks, etc. while men will go with the average woman.

I can simply say that we owe this thought to the sexism that has ruled in society, women are supposed to be on a stable relationship, get married etc etc as if we are not able not enjoy our sexuality and although in recent years the feminist movement that seeks equality has given us freedom, there is no lack of conservative thinking towards the sexuality of women, if you think about it, this topic covers even the same topic of virginity. But men do not need to worry as there is no pressure about their own sexuality. Again, this is changing but we still have a long way to go!
