It's this society we live in. We are made to believe that private parts are naughty. And then there are some religions that say sex is sinful and masturbation is wrong. I try not to bash people's beliefs, but some of that is so damn ridiculous. I get embarrassed when people see me naked, especially my pubic hairs for some reason!
Society has this program to believe what they want us to believe. The human body is a beautiful thing. Whoever decided we should wear clothes was definitely taking drugs that day! Because here is a fun fact... Clothes can cause skin irritation for some people, and some people are allergic to certain materials, and also clothes are constricting, like for example, men's underwear can cause sexual dysfunction. Now there are some types of underwear they make to prevent this issue, still, that's a whole lot of work trying to figure out what kind of underwear to buy!
So because someone was too ashamed of their body, society says we have to wear clothes! Yeah, I tend to overthink. It's probably because I'm a writer and a lot of times, thoughtful bounce around inside my head over and over! But yeah, that's my opinion.0 0 0 0

Hmm. I have ASKED to look at a woman's privates. I had a married woman friend who was a neighbor in an apartment complex. We talked about sex and what we liked when we were together, and her husband was in classes in grad school.
I liked her, and we had a mutual attraction I guess. The ONE night we had sex, I asked to look at her pussy. She said 'turn the lights on and close the BR door" ... She was not embarrassed not shy about laying down and letting me look. It was very nice, BTY.
A girl friend later said "You don't want to see it" so I guess she was not eager to show.
I guess we are afraid the 'looker' will not like what hey see?
0 0 0 0@bricealan So, you are proud to be an adulterer?
@YesterdaysChild Well pardon me. That was TWENTY YEARS AGO!!!

When you consider that some indigenous cultures around the world can freely walk around each other naked without there being a care, compared to first world, western cultures where we cover up, then the answer is yes, it's because we're programmed. Cooler climates have evolved to have us wear clothing, and some religions have made up reasons to think of sex as being dirty, and our bodies to be ashamed of. So yes, programmed. This becomes wired throughout our mental/neurological selves to instinctively cover up if we're exposed since it's a repeated action at all times to make sure we are.
0 1 0 0Lol people talking about religious people that they bring that thing but we humans are not animals... we have a thing called shame... we are just programmed like that & that shame is a good thing... shame is different than insecurity... God Made Adam & Eve... they were only humans first but they were covered too... they were husband & wife & only two first humans but they were still covered wearing clothes... it's a human thing that differentiates a human from an animal... cause men & women are programmed like that too...& we all know that already...
0 0 0 0If we think that way then just like animals a man can touch any woman any woman he likes grabs her & just do anything like what animals do... but there is a human decency... human laws despite of any Religion or even if someone is just an atheist or humanist
@hinaaaaa - you've obviously never studied the Bible. Adam had a first wife, Lilith, who was cast into the shadows and forsaken about because unlike Eve who was good at being chattel & lesser than Adam in ways for Adam "created" her via a rib; Lilith refused not to be treated as less than an equal.
@CuriousInquirer no I didn't but here the topic is not his wives or something... well thank you for the information 😊

13 36i know it's like when you wear a really short dress... why do we worry if we show our butts or pussy for a split second now and then it's riddiculus to think that way,,, besides i'm sure you'd make someone's not day but life;'s thrill.
0 1 0 0fear of been judged I think is the biggest one, example, a guy strips naked and girl laughs at his small penis.
A girl take her trouser, and has a lot of cellulite on her legs, and the guy walks away from her.
I am not embarrassed to be naked, cause of my dick or bum, I am embarrassed because of my chicken legs, everyone keeps critizing me on my legs. I won't wear shorts.
0 0 0 0Because they are private and not public.
0 2 0 0No I know. But like if someone accidentally saw something why should they feel embarrassed? What I’m trying to say is all girls have the same parts and all boys have the same parts. They may differ slightly but they are all pretty much the same. I don't know. Dumb question I guess.
Not a dumb question.
No not dumb at all.
Social conditioned to be embarrassed.
0 1 0 0At some point in human history, someone decided that covering our reproductive parts was a good idea, because those areas are not meant for every human we encountered to interact with, that's my guess.
0 0 0 0It was from the start when God made clothes for Adam and Eve because they were ashamed by their nakedness. Since that time everyone has been clothed that had any morals.
@YesterdaysChild very valid response for those who follow creationism :-).
To me creationism is the only thing that matters.
Programmed! Little kids are not embarrassed when naked. It is only after they have been taught to wear clothes that they become bothered to be naked. A lot of people break out of that and are not bothered when seen nude. And every year many thousands of people take part in the World Naked Bike Ride all over the world. I have ridden in them in the past and a couple of times there were over 10,000 participants in my city alone.

1 0 0 0I saw this event in St. Louis one year! Over 20 years ago. Definitely an event of inclusion and protest. Good point on learned behavior.
o ya know... ever since adam and eve. Also will we be impressed, judgmental or wha... and I think that's why most people are embarrassed.
0 0 0 0I'm embarrassed to let anyone see my little piglet penis because it's so small.
0 0 0 0😳...
Why should they be... It is only dicks and vulvas.. no big deal
0 0 0 0Society shames it. Really sad tbh nobody should feel shameful about showing their body
0 3 0 0I mean I’m sure everyone has something about their body they wish they could change. So obviously nobody is perfect.
I'm not. There's only so many times you can shower surrounded by a bunch of sweaty guys, either in high school after P. E. class or college after the gym and later in the military, and still be shy about it. You just stop caring after a while.
0 0 0 0They were taught to be ashamed. Some of us get over it. Some never do.
0 0 0 0Because from the childhood we are brain wired to not show it. I don't know the reason why it's so, maybe it has some societal meaning.
First, we all wear clothes, to protect out bodies from external temperature conditions, rain, dust, diseases, etc and not used to see private parts of each others. It's just unusual to us. Why would someone do something if everyone else doesn't? it's a herd behavior.
I think it has more to do with the fact that we wear clothes rather than we just want to keep privacy. And we wear clothes not for for privacy. Privacy is a minor factor. People wear clothes 1000s of years.
0 0 0 0The main reason I used to be embarrassed about it is that I'm circumcised.
1 0 0 0because of Adam and Eve
0 0 0 0Because society teaches us it’s wrong to do it.
0 1 0 0Because it's private and it's not for everyone to see it.
0 1 0 0Why do people hide behind anon to ask a question?
0 0 0 0Yeah we are just programmed like that for now
I am sure there was a time we roamed around naked without hesitation.. just like animals0 0 0 0I'm not embarrassed, but I think a lot of people are because of insecurity about whether their parts would be attractive.
