Why are so many people uninformed at how MOST people who rape, molest, sexual assault, sexually harass, etc. do it for power&control?

Many people assume it is because the person wants to get laid or whatever. I have studied about this in criminal justice but even after studying about this many years ago, it has been on the news, etc more why most people do this stuff. Yet people still assume dumb things. Also good looking people do it too not just average and ugly people. James Franco, Ronaldo (soccer player), etc are good looking people yet they did horrible things.

Because a lot of people aren’t interested in getting into why someone is so sick in the head. You had enough interest in understanding these things to study them on a psychological level (unless it was just part of whatever career you were pursuing), but that’s not for everyone.

Also this is an afterthought, but I’d like to add that it’s very rude and inconsiderate of you to generalize “people” and “assumptions”. I can easily say you are assuming rapists, molesters, etc (note the generalization because that implies “all”) do what they do based off a power trip and wanting control. No. Most of these weirdos have their eyes on children, men and women they they choose to assault because they just want them. It is not “dumb” to have no desire to delve into their minds and understand their logic. Not every person that commits these crimes do it for control and power.

I also love how you did not address one thing that I said in my second comment, and instead brushed past it and chose to emphasize your use of “most” and how your sister took a class. This entire post is insensitive to victims, simply because when you wrote this you did not consider that those who’ve gone through shit don’t care to understand the twisted mind of those that assaulted them. Some won’t even go to the police and hide their trauma for their entire lives.

Again — putting words in my mouth. I never said you said victims deserve what happens to them. I also never said you have zero sympathy for them. I said your post was insensitive to actual victims, emphasis on “insensitive”, at this point you are misconstruing that word and twisting it into all this other stuff on purpose. I understand that some perpetrators commit these crimes for power and control. I never said I didn’t. What I’m telling you is that there are those that commit these crimes for pleasure as well. It is not “dumb” for victims to simply assume this, rather than delve Into the logic behind why they were assaulted. It is insulting and insensitive for you to say otherwise, because you quit literally said “people still assume dumb things”. It’s just tactless. If someone attacks and assaults you in the park, are you dumb for not trying to pick their mind and understand why they did it? No you are not. If you’d like to and that’s part of your healing, then sure, do some psychological digging, take some classes, whatever. But they are not wrong for having no desire to.

Many people are dumb, it's safe to assume that much, but it's a good thing that many people don't relate to the psychology of a rapist.
