Why do you say "so many"? Have any real data to back that up, or are you just saying you run into it fairly often on social media, so it must be a "thing"?

First there's a definitional issue. Strictly speaking, a cuckold or cuckoldress has a spouse who has sex outside of the marriage, thereby "cucking" their partner whether they know it or not. However, some folks don't like that definition and will say "if there's no knowledge and acceptance of it, that's just cheating". For these folks, knowledge and acceptance of extramarital affairs are required to be considered truly cucked. Also by a somewhat stricter, old-school definition, it MUST be a married COUPLE, not just a boyfriend or girlfriend.

If you use the latter definition, I don't think there are so many in reality. I do think it's a fantasy that some people have, more so for men than women. What seems to be prevalent on social media isn't always the case in the real world, and I believe this is an example of that.
