Why are there so many people on here that say a sexless relationship is just a friendship?

There are things that you'd do with a partner that you wouldn't do with a friend. So why is it that sex is the deciding factor as to whether or not it's a friendship?

I 100% agree with your description section.

I think it's just because people don't understand/are ignorant that asexuality / people who just aren't that sexual people, do exist in romantic relationships.

At least for me growing up, it was stereotyped that being in a relationship meant you had to have sexual side but when I met a guy I liked who told me he was asexual, I realised I hadn't actually thought about it because I was so conditioned to think that every romantic relationship must have a sexual side but that isn't the case.

You can have a successful relationship without the sexual side because the emotional connection can be stronger than the sexual one but obviously, that can be a deal-breaker for some, which is okay too.

Look at Western society and tell me it isn't in a sharp decline. You really can't. Promiscuity and other forms of degeneracy and self destruction are rampant. People idolize sex over love. And these same people usually have very low self esteem, it's no wonder they hate themselves and just follow their impulses.

It might be a little exaggeration, but a sexless relationship is fairly pointless for most people.

Kiss, cuddle, sleeping together (literally), go on dates, hold hands, flirt. Things like that

Obviously you can but it's the fact that you don't that separates it. People have friends with benefits relationships and still consider it a friendship, so why can't you have a relationship without sex and still consider it a relationship?
