Why are these women in a circle?

Here in the photo you can see six women in a circle on the floor. What do you think is the most likely reason?

For those who don't know what I'm talking about, let me take you back in time. Ron Harris was a photographer and sometimes videographer, who worked in both mainstream and adult. He was one of the top adult photographers in Los Angeles from the mid-1970s on, and he did work for Hollywood movies, fashion magazines, men's magazines like Playboy, Penthouse, and Hustler, and he was prolific as the still photographer for LA-based porn studios starting in the early 80s.

But what he's best known for is for creating and directing Aerobicise, an extremely popular show on premium TV network Showtime, beginning in 1981.

This was the peak of the women's aerobic exercise craze - the same time as Olivia Newton-John's song "Physical" and when women all over the country were going to school gyms and roller rinks to Jazzercise.

Ron Harris put attractive women - often 4 or 6 in a circle, on a spinning white platform in a white-backdropped room and filmed the action from multiple angles. I believe there ended up being 4 or 5 seasons of this show, all in the same style. In the beginning, there was a whole 80s band doing the music, but (I'm sure to save money) it quickly became 100% synths and drum machines.

The ratings for this show were HUGE and got Showtime lots of subscribers. Naturally, Ron Harris exploited his contacts in the adult industry, and a few years later he made a nude version of the show, which I believe was distributed only on VHS.

Aerobicise is largely forgotten today, but it was massively influential at the time, and I remember a number of parodies of it, and some copycat shows from other countries, etc.

This pic immediately reminded me of seeing the show at a friend's house for the first time (my parents weren't paying for Showtime! We were lucky to have basic cable!), and then months later seeing his sister and her friend exercising to it. Once you've seen it, you can't ever unsee it...

I also thought they might be scrambling for the last chocolate in the box.

They could be playing topsies to see who goes first. But they are using a large sybian instead of a baseball bat.

Or it could be a class on sex positions for beginners. "Lean on your elbows. Arch your back. Spread your legs. Good job!"

They are given a tough problem to solve.
There is a fused bulb in one of the rooms that does not emit light. They turn the switch on and off a few times and noticed it does not help. The realize the problem maybe coming from the bulb itself. They must extract the old one and replace it with a new one.

Looking close they all look like they've got their hands in the center on something. It could be an exercise routine. But they wouldn't be wearing jeans the strings and thongs. Guess I'll just wait to find out later on.
