Guys talk to guys about sex and conquest. They brag, and say things like did you see so and so... she's hot... I'd do her! Or I did such and such to so and so last night. Or if I had her, I'd do such and such. Laugh, joke, poke, and tease each other. Overestimate their package size to impress other men. Overestimate their staying power to other men to indicate virility and stamina.
Girls tall to girls about, well, whatever they talk about. Mostly about last night's romantic and/or steamy encounter with their man and how they felt, with their really close female friends, or about the pigs constantly pounding on their doors or making inappropriate comments, and what a turn off it is, because there's more to women than just sex. That doesn't preclude them from talking raunchy though. Isn't so and so from x department hot? How about that delivery guy? Did you see that bulge? His ass is so tight. Ooh... those muscles! I'd show him a thing or two.
A girl approaching a guy to talk about sex, as viewed from the female perspective, is taboo. Not taboo as in something that's wrong, but as in something a woman just doesn't do. It sends the wrong messages... slut, whorish, easy, loose, etc. No woman wants to be seen as such, put out such a vibe to men, or be seen as impure by anyone, meanwhile behind closed doors...
A guy doesn't approach a woman to talk about sex, as viewed from the male perspective, is considered... well... guys with narcissistic issues and/or larger than life egos, don't give a damn. They think they're all that, or that women should just fall to their knees. They're classless, unmannered, uncouth, neanderthals. Other guys just think it's an inappropriate subject to speak with a woman about, and generally won't broach the subject unless the female gives some indication that she's receptive to discussing sexual issues. The rest of the male population just doesn't discuss sexual issues with women unless they're in a relationship with them, because it's considered in bad taste to approach any female to discuss sex. They also concern themselves with offending said female for fear of legal issues, or because they don't want to ruin their chances, if the possibility of more exists.
Then you have the rest of the population. They are, and do, what everyone knows or suspects they do. They don't give a damn who they offend, or what angst it causes. They're gonna be them, and do or say what they want, damn the consequences.
To reach their own, I say. Whatever floats your boat.
My wife told me that she thinks women are capable of being raunchier than men at times.

I understand where you're coming from, I feel the same way about conversations about sex. But women encounter A LOT of predators and otherwise inappropriately or aggressively acting men, both online and IRL. So it's just natural that they would be very cautious with this stuff.
