There's a few reasons why I can think of:

1. They hear and see lots of women who want bigger packages (which is 8+ inches).

2. They fear that a woman won't date them if she considers it too small.

3. They fear other people embarrassing them for their size (in this case, small. you guessed it).

4. Anything else can be said from the guys, I'm done listing here.

I would say it's the same with us women and our breasts but honestly, it'd be kind of hard to because guys will pretty much love any size of boobs in the end. Where with women it tends to not be the case with penises.

Mostly because we are afraid you will laugh or tell your girlfriends. Porn has ruined the size of regular penises in favor of the 8-12 inch penises.
