Why did I bleed while masturbating today?

  Was the blood coming from inside the vagina or the outside. It could be that you scratched yourself either way. Also, how close to your period are you? You said not expecting it for "a bit". If it is close enough, it may be spotting.

  Ok, that still could be you accidentally scratched yourself even if internal. I would give it some time to heal. If it doesn't stop, see your doctor. If you are between 1-2 away, unlikely it is spotting.
