Why did women let their let their bush grow out in the 70s?

at first I thought this was just a porn thing until I started hearing my uncles who were in their 20s back in the 70s talk about this at full blast whenever we had a getogether. they would talk about how they use to love fucking those women who had truckloads of hair down there while disdaining modern women for keeping their v-cards all shaved up. they would say things like...

"real women have hair in their vaginas!"

"only daddy's little girls shave down there!"

"grown women don't shave their vaginas!"

and the list goes on. anyways it doesn't take rocket science to figure out that women have been hyped up with their hygiene since the dawn of time. its like what era did women not make getting their hair done and shaving off all the other hair in their body? but with that what exactly made their pubic hair an exception back in the 70s?

ps; I even stumbled upon an image on Instagram that points this out not too long ago. the image itself was pretty crappy so I decided to recreate it on my own with photoshop. anyways here is that image...

why did women let their let their bush grow out in the 70s?

  • Hair is natural. It doesn't hurt anyone. It's not ugly nor dirty, if washed.
Of course, with young girls forced to use pads instead of tampons (to keep their 'sacred' hymen intact), shaving makes it easier to be clean during those 4 days.
I guess the shaving came with the "virgin till marriage" drive. (and oral sex): t he bald look must look more virginal.

  • I'm actually pretty happy about it. Hairy bodies are a masculine trait to me, personally. I think the female form is sexiest when its smooth. Sometimes a little landing strip is tasty looking though, your uncles have a right to their opinions

    • true, i think i prefer hair over no hair at all. no hair at all looks weird and kinda makes you feel like you having sex with a little girl who hasn't had a taste of puberty yet. but i think that 70s trend was a little too much, i could live with the 80s but if i had to choose i would hold the 90s at a death grip

  • I think you answered your own question in your post. It was considered more "womanly" and that's what was in back then. That time period is when women were just starting to claim their womanhood and starting to portray themselves as strong. There was a wave of strong women that men haven't experienced before and it was different, and men get bored easily.

    • true but im surprise it didn't cause any hygiene distress within them

  • I say nonsense, we've been clean shaving our pubes since the invention of the razor. Some of us are old enough to know. :)

    • i guess "some" is the keyword

  • The same reason they had pubic hair in the 60s 50s 40s 30s 20s etc.

The 70s weren't unusual with regards to pubic hair.

    • you don't say? did you even read the question correctly? this question is about why they used to let it grow out in the 70s not if they had any hair there or not as obviously i don't think you need a biology degree to figure out that women have and always had hair down there

    • @CasaNorba Apparently I'm not being clear. The vast majority of women didn't shave their pubic hair off in earlier decades. Its not like everyone always shaved off their hair, then in the 70s had this wild trend where they didn't. Shaving was an occasional porn thing in the 80s then took off in the mid to late 90s. People talk about '70s' bush' in porn just because they don't actually watch older porn then that (there isn't nearly as much).

    • true, makes perfect sense. I guess its true when they say that the 70s was the golden era of porn after all. but I still find it kinda crazy how most women have always found their body hair repulsing. going as far as shaving their legs, arms, etc. daily yet they seemed to make their pubic hair a total exception during those days. I'm guessing that maybe because that part was never noticeable to the public.

I felt like redoing it because it looked like a 3rd grader did it. but yea I hear women in Japan keep it in the 90s

    • ya yours is better pretty much

  • I think it's more sexy when there's no hair

  • i think a bush can be pretty feminine.
