Why do guys at work always have to bring up sex even if I say stop?

They have to make gross comments even when me and other women are present. I work in retail by the way

I guess its a ghetto area.

Superb Opinion

  • Guys often brought it up in my workplace because being interested in sex is kinda seen as a masculine thing, at least around my hometown. It's kind of like talking about sports, where it's seen as a chance to find common ground and start a conversation pretty easily.
    At least, that's my guess.
If they talk that way with you in earshot, then I'm guessing 3 possibilities:

    1. They aren't talking to you "even when you and other women are present."
    2. They see it as normal and don't understand why it would bother you.
    3. They think you're attractive and want to set a casual, flirty mood.

Personally, I don't try and police other people's conversations. If they make you uncomfortable and you make that clear and they keep mentioning it to you, maybe they're just rude? Wouldn't be the first rude coworker I've heard of.

    • Yup. They're complete selfish idiots. In some cases its #3. In others #2 plus they have no respect or sense. Theyre so selfish and stupid.

    • One was looking directly at the other girl while droning on about his conquests and how he manipulates girls for sex. She was brand new and didn't say anything.

  • They should not be doing that in front of you. I don't know if it is directed towards you or you are over hearing locker room talk. Personally I don't want to know but yeah us guys are pretty bad about that stuff. In our work locker rooms you would think we are sailors. It's just a way for us to blow off steam. Directed towards you is very different though.

    • Frankly thats disguting misogynistic. But somehow jerk boys think its cool to degrade women to "blow off steam". Im so glad there's real men out there in the world not just boys.

    • Lady you have no clue about the real world. There are people dying and you are worried that guys make sexual jokes. They have literally scraped people off the walls of my plant and now you are going to tell them they can't do what they need to do to heal. We spend 4 weeks a year not seeing our families to provide power for your house and properly your electric car. I have watch good friends faint before me in this job. I have seen our giant breaker blow and throw 200 pound steel doors like it was a toy. You don't know the real world because you have been sheltered. by the way I have to work on that same breaker. It's my job to rack it in and out and you don't think that goes through my mind? You also want to fault me for making those jokes when you don't know who you are talking too. This is the same guy who tried to protect my nana in a mass shooting. The same guy who was the first person my ex ever dated that never hit her. Never layed a finger on her unless she gave me permission to do so and yet you want to come in all high and mighty. Get back in your self important Prius and preach on tumblr to the bunch with IQ lower than a sack of potatoes.

  • Because they have no class. Tell them that it does not turn you on when they talk about it and to go home and jerk off instead.

  • They are desperate?

    • Yeah they are thirsty depserate losers

    • Losers? Dont you work retail too? Lol.

  • It should be brought to the attention of the owner/boss to deal with it. Most respectable businesses have a clear harassment policy. If this company doesn't it's time to find a new job.

  • Because they want you to spank them.

    • you're probably right. Its like they want to bother me on purpose so i smack them.

It can be very hard to stop. Sadly some do it more the more you complain...

    • Should i just tell the HR boss? She might be able to tell them to stop. Im not sure if it would change anything though.

    • Getting them involved most times makes it worse.

    • What is your advice to stop it?

    • Bet you have nice tits and just the right thickness to ur body

  • They're being immature and aren't respecting you
