Why do guys call girls 'babe' even if they're just a casual sex partner?

I know this question sounds a bit weird or stupid, since it's just such a natural thing for guys to call any girl they're sleeping with 'babe', but I'm just curious to see whether there's some sort of psychology to it or anything, because technically it's a bit strange how a guy calls a girl babe just cause he's having or wants to have sex with her, even when he has no feelings for her.
