"Speedo" brand swim briefs, and others aimed at competition swimming generally flatten, while other brands not aimed towards competition swimming might accent it a bit. The easiest way to tell: if there is a seam directly down the center of the front of the swim briefs, its a pouch style brief. If there's no seam, its not, and will generally flatten things out more.
