it's not just girls, and it's not just being horny. if you notice, if you are having a long text or phone conversation with someone you like, the later it gets, the more seductive and romantic it gets, then it will go on for hours even if you have to get up early the next day.
this can be caused by weariness after the day. your logical and sensical functions of the brain are worn out after a long day of constant use, and your less commonly used emotional side is able to pretty much go on autopilot and take over. as your brain backs off and loses its grip on your thoughts and functions, your more primal and instinctual side starts to take a larger role. for a guy, it would be thinking with the other head. but if you like someone and that's where your body and mind have been heading, then your instincts will go where the body points them. reproduction is a large part of that.

I'm not sure, but girls are always more horny at night, and guys more horny in the morning. I know why it happens with guys (our testosterone levels are highest in the morning, after a good rest), but not sure the precise reason for women.
