The answer is 1200 million years of sexual evolution.

Try to think in evolutionary terms in which species are evolved in such a way that they are best suited for the environment that they are in. That's what "survival of the fittest" is all about.

Since the dawn of sexual reproduction over 1 billion years ago, ultimately now we have males and females and their roles in sexual reproduction are equally important but vastly disparate.

Now, you need to understand what is best for a species.

1. First, if you are a member of a species, you want the best traits to be passed on to the next generation.

2. Second, maximizing genetic diversity in the species protects it from some threat that might wipe out all of its members. For instance, suppose there was The Ginger Flu which kills red-headed ("ginger") people, but leaves everyone else OK. Well, if everyone was ginger, then the Ginger Flu would make us extinct. But, because we have diversity in out species, the Ginger Flu would only kill off gingers, but the rest of us would survive - without gingers. That's evolution... but notice that the diversity kept the species from going extinct.

OK, now you need to understand this:
1. Females are (mostly) responsible for selecting the best traits to be passed to the next generation. Females cannot reproduce at the same rate that males can, so they need to be pickier in their selection of mates to reproduce with.
2. Males are responsible for genetic diversity. Since they can reproduce frequently, they are not as picky as females when it comes to mate choice. Because it is in the best interests for a species to be genetically diverse, the best way to do that is to give males the incentive to reproduce with as many females as possible.

And that's the bottom line:
Evolution causes males to instinctively want to fuck every female they can.
Evolution causes females to be more selective in who they fuck with.

So, when a female acts like a male and fucks every male in sight, she's not being very discriminatory.

Now, I want to be clear that I am not advocating anything; I am simply explaining from an evolutionary perspective why things are the way they are. Evolution caused this double-standard that you are complaining about.

I want to be clear though: I am not passing judgment on men or women with high body counts. All I've been saying all along is that it is more likely, on evolutionary grounds, for males to not be monogamous. That said, in the past 60 years or so, female promiscuity has definitely increased and a big reason for that was birth control and abortions. In the past, if a woman got pregnant and was unmarried, that was considered shameful and, just as bad if not worse, if she was pregnant by a man not her husband, that could lead to huge drama and divorce and subsequent difficulty for the woman in society. At the same time, male promiscuity was not lauded, but it was not surprising because of the fundamental biological nature of males which evolution has made into the vectors of species diversity. (By contrast, women are the architects of our species - it is the males they have chosen to mate with over thousands of generations that have led our species to be what it is today.)

Yes, the bodycount does not have to be same but it is fact that male promiscuity increase also the woman's bodycount. There is also no mathematical rule how the body count of every person increease Monogamy does not necassarily has do to with being promiscuos. You still can have a high body but have a only partner in the end. Polygamy means you have more than one partner at the same time. Men has to be monogamy if they do not want to be single. If all the best men get the majority of women as wifes, the majority of men will be single and this happen in some arabic countries.

I think it could be a thing but it should not be. If a sexual body count is talked about for him then yours should not matter. However, the more partners you do have can lead to STDs I think for me, I'd want to make sure you were ok... But other than that... It should not matter, unless you were a mom, then that could change things too.

But overall, the body count should not matter... For either, if a make body count and a female body count were already established...

One last though... There could be a causal sex body count and a relationship body count and that would make a difference. If both of you had causal sex then it's nothing but it one only had sex in relationships while the other had sex in casually... It's two different mindsets that could make a difference
